Fuel costs.. why??

It is a pretty minute issue, however, I don't feel I should have to pay any amount of credits if I'm REQUIRED to travel to a certain destination for a class mission.

If the destination is required for progression, remove the fee.

If I'm floating around from planet to planet, and base to base just to explore or for extra stuff that's not REQUIRED for my level progression, I'm all for keeping the charge and I have no problem paying it.

Also I want my credits back for the skills I bought (trained in) that are being taken away once 2.0 hits.

It is based on distance. It's based on distance even now.
Though it might be also dependant on player level, because for a new player paying 1k-3k just for fuel would be way too much.

Fairly sure its a relic system from an past idea that never made it, like the escape pods on your ships

Even if you completely run out of credits, you can get some easy credits almost everywhere to at least make a trip to another planet. Like, from the fleet, you can hop to your starter planet for free, kill a handfull of mobs, and you've got a few hundred credits again.
Well, you shouldn't park a lvl 15 on Ilum perhaps, that'd be rather stupid.. But for the rest.. Yes, I think you can get a minumal amount of credits about everywhere.

I always thought the fuel fee was way too low. It should be increased at least tenfold. You are able to travel from one star system to another for a handful of credits?

Yeah I knew right now it was based on distance, I just couldn't help but wonder with the uptick in price if they were going to change how it was figured. I was think about it in terms of new player not a whole lot of credits getting temporarily stuck after leveling up for example because now the have to travel to the other side of the map and don't gave enough credits to get there. I could see it happening.

Wait, what? Why?? Isn't it a good thing when fuel costs are cheap, it makes you more willing to visit the different planets and to travel back and forth to do bonus quests/heroics and such. Not that it's a huge number but ?

I just got this image of some newbie player with no money, spending all his credits on class training on Fleet.

Empty inventory and empty cargo hold and that's his first character...

And he can't leave Fleet because he can't pay the traveling cost and he's forced to sell his armor to some random vendor in order to pay for gas...

I say up the costs. Make landing at star ports cost per game day. Toss some semi realistic credit sinks in.

There are ways to travel off fleet without spending credits.
