I can certainly imagine a script helping a player with certain tasks, the issue is what level of control you'd give to a program without it causing an issue elsewhere in your play. Some abilities don't affect the global cool down and don't consume resources - they would work well. But most abilities aren't like that, and something independently carrying out commands doesn't sound like it's the overwhelming advantage the OP (and others) are making out.

Imagine a second person controlling your character with you. It'd have advantages, certainly - there's lots of things I miss in the middle of fights (e.g. to activate an AOE taunt). But even if the second person had vastly superior reactions to mine, and we had a strict agreement about what he should do it's easy to picture how we'd get in each others way - I'd like to switch targets to prevent a cap in voidstar, he'd like to finish off the person I'm fighting as their health is below a certain %.

Moreover, a lot of decisions aren't easy to reduce to simple rules. One thing I often find happen is I die before I have a chance to apply a medpac. Computer level reflexes would be great there, except I'm not sure what rule there should be to decide when to apply it.. It's certainly not when health drops below a certain % because there are times I know healers have got my back and other cases where it's pointless because I know that I'll be killed in 2 seconds anyway. So something as simple as an "auto medpac" isn't without problems - you can imagine how more complex decisions would be really difficult to script.

Again - I think scripts certainly have some scope for use in PVP, but some of the claims being made here sound dubious at best. Can you make a script that gives you the optimal rotation. Sure - you could probably break all records on the Ops dummy using such a thing (if you had a good connection). But PVP is much more than that.

I agree with you that pvp is more than can be scripted to a certain extent. But I think you are underestimating the extent to which scripts can be utilized. Especially well written ones.

Guilty conscience is one thing, another reason is some of these self proclaimed pros never think anyone is cheating, and get blamed for hacking or exploiting when they rofl stomp another premade guild.

Alot of egos act like children when accusations get thrown out, and this thread needs none of that.

This thread is directly to Bioware, and us as customers deserve answers about this very topic.

I don't know most things, but I do know people won't even sniff ranked if there is guilds using scripts and exploits to win.

BW's response was a few replies up.

It was "L2P".

Seriously if there was someone with a scripted rotation and you lost to him in PvP, you should stop playing PvP.

Its not about a scripted rotation, its about scripts on top of rotations. People keep coming in here and throwing out comments that have no idea what can be done with these programs. What I would like is a bioware response to this. Not people with no clue about scripting saying L2P.

It's a matter of fact that 3rd party programs are being used to automate the game in PvP.

You bought your MMO mouse, keyboard, high end rig, etc all to get an advantage in the game. Well, some players are going a step further and using tools to automate their attacks, watch their procs, manage their resources. MG and BW are well known programs being used for this.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with it, so long as the playing field is level. If these tools are OK to use, then they should be OK for ALL to use.

I do think Bioware knows about this and I think there is not all that much they can do about them.

I think it's a fair criticism that posting about these tools will attract more players to use them, but they really are not a secret at the high end of the game already.

Just my 2c.

Oh they forsure know about it, for chirst sakes they build a million dollar game and can't be that stupid.

Hell they implemented a "no macro rule" on their stupid keyboard http://swtormacrosguide.com/no-macro...nch-what-next/.

Here is a quote in there,
Quote:
Bioware however decided that macros system will be implemented later on in the game. We don’t know any other details at this point, but you can be sure this site will bring any related news as they come.
What is amazing is the lack of acknowledgment about this post from the devs...

I guess if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck...

It's a *********** duck.

Why does it feel like they don't really care anymore?
