Finally found a solution:
Upgrade to win7 64bit
16 gigs RAM
I5 processor
Solid state hard drive

I have virtually zero lag and never crash, finally after nearly 6 months of dealing with that issue.
Bioware has really misled people on the minimum requirements for this game. From a marketing standpoint i guess that makes sense, had they made the true Min Req public, fewer people would have bought and subbed to their product at release imo.

1. The Red Eclipse
2. All
3. Estimated approx every 2 hours of gameplay.
4. Crashes in different times and places, no pattern.
5. See next post, DXDiag too large for inclusion.

7. Crash to desktop, usually without an error message
There is but one destination, to which all paths inevitably lead
Light side? Dark side? Why should these matter? The Force is but an energy, and I'll wield it as I see fit.

Lord_Scimitar, You will benefit from this
For those running 32 bit OS on Vista or Windows 7 to likely stop the crashes that people experience after 1 - 2 hours

For Windows XP 32 Bit

I just crashed:

Character: Lielin
Sever: The Bastion
Doing: Warzones
Happened twice. I log into game and it brings me to the server selection screen saying that a connection with the server has been lost. Then logs me out of the game.

It's a game error that seems to be related to quad cores. I too have a new system and atm can't leave my ship or the game crashes which means i'm stuck doing space missions (omgomgomgspace!). I was a day or two ago able to travel to The Black Hole after finishing up Section X but then I could never get back after I tried to land on Alderaan.

If you go into your Event View you'll probably see something like this:

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Corrected Machine Check
Error Type: Internal parity error
Processor ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.

Listed as a warning and Win7 does not even recognize SWTOR doing a ctd. SWTOR is the ONLY thing that causes this warning be it the laucher or the game itself.

it keeps telling me that the patcher service is temporarily unavailable. This has been going on for 2 days now.

and upon Setting the Affinity to use Cores 1-3 and not 0 the problem appears to be corrected. The CPU is not bad, this is a game coding problem.
