This is how space should be

Open space combat would be awfully cool.

Somehow, I just don't think we'll get it though. Because if Bioware could have done this, they would have done so already.

If you were going to ignore me you wouldn't have said anything. Instead you're waiting for another chance to tout your snobbish superiority and to insult me. The reason you're "ignoring me" is because it's inconvenient for your paradigm. The idea that they actually could have gotten the important parts from the star wars films but not the way you wanted throws away your entire reason of existance on this forum, and so rather than accept it or try to refute it, you just pretend that I either didn't say it, or you make an Ad Hominem and criticize the person making the argument rather than the argument itself.
No you pick and chose what part of the IP and EU to work with, Do you want to change the scope of the game any further? How about the section between Lars calling Luke and Luke sitting down. Sure is no epic space combat there is there?

Bottom line you are either limited in your understanding of the IP/EU or you are just another shilltroll for EAware.

edit ... oh wait ... are you telling me SWTOR is set within the movies ... oh WOW

WHY WHY?! Did you have to remind me of my B-wing /cry. I miss that ship. I would love to see an epic duplicate of swg space in swtor. I dont think EA or Bioware has the spine to do it.

What the IP has in it is irrelevant, or you might as well argue for an Empire At War style grand strategy simulator and a pod racing simulator as well your desired flight sim.

The issue here isn't SWTOR failing to do something but SWG fans wanting SWTOR to be something it is not.

Your sculpture of strawmen knows no equal. You know full well what I'm talking about and as I had just pointed out, you continue to dodge the argument rather than try to refute it.

The Old Republic is about story, first and foremost. This is true of every game that they have ever made. For the Old Republic, Bioware wanted to capture the spirit of the stories in the Star Wars films as well as the other media in Knights of the Old Republic. Since the majority of the stories take place on terra firma, it makes sense that the stories and the game reflect that.

You accuse me of not being familiar with the franchise, so I'll challenge you on this. Find me a Star Wars narrative where an open-world space game is an absolute requirement.

Space is more than fine as is. I would be happy if they expanded it, but people really need to stop moaning about this. Space is not the focus of this game, it is a side game, something to do in your off time.

I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

Will we get it? Probably not, but at the same time we have every right to ask for it. If your tired of threads like these....well guess what...You can go to another.
News flash. It's not YOUR game.

Space combat is an enjoyable mini game. It's not the main focus and its not meant to take up as much time as JTL took in SWG. Expecting this mini game to be expanded to this level is a little unreasonable.

At the end of the day, you are looking for a game to provide you with radically different gameplay. It would be like posting a video from Halo 4 and claiming "This is how PvP could be".

SWTOR is a great game with many features, but immersive space combat may not be one of them. However there are many games which provide that experience. Why not play SWTOR for what it offers and jump onto another game when you get that "Rouge Squadron" itch?
This guy hit the nail on the head.
