Forgive me but considering most people have disagreed with your statement it would seem to be you have been outvoted. Most if not all star wars fans like the look and do not want it changed. You are entitled to your opinion just like the rest of us are .
Not true. I acknowledged Rogueleadnine's point of view as being a valid argument, assuming that that is what he/she meant to say.

As far as being outvoted, I'm voicing my concerns to Bioware in hopes that at some point in the future they will consider giving TOR a more modern look while still remaining SW. Contrary to popular belief in this thread, it is possible.

No matter how you want to spin it the majority of us like the way the way things are. Yet you are still arguing a point without acknowledging a single thing other people have said. So now my conclusion is that you want SW to be what you want it to be and because it won't you feel a duty to argue about it.

You want advanced tech? SW has voice and visual comm in real time across multi-lightyear distances. If that isn't advanced what is?
"Personally, I play a warlock to set people on fire as they run in fear while I steal their souls. As an added perk, I play an undead warlock so I can eat their brains afterwards. I suppose a better question is, why do people play anything else?" (Unknown WoW forum poster)

Yes it certainly is advanced. I would like to see it that way too. This game went gung ho with the technological zeitgeist of the original films and made it a style. A mistake in my opinion.

You preferred the original?

I cannot speak accurately, I have seen neither. But mos good producers know technology and effects are only half important as story and dialogue, something the original trilogy got right. If you didn't spend so much time crying over a holo communicator, maybe you'd enjoy the story.

I would have thought by now that we should be able to be in the game and grab ants. Then we should enlarge them and hurtle them towards our neighbour ( who incidently is a giant rat ) , they would they spew it back out in a huge ball of acid beltch / corrosive starch into our nether regions.

Sorry for my spelling , my first language is pidgeon English.

Cheers,

A work of fiction is set in the era that the author decides. Any technology is of course likely to be influenced by what was available at the time of writing, although many sci-fi authors have been remarkably prescient.

Just because it is sci-fi doesn't mean it has to keep being re-invented to match our current technology. Besides, technology moves so fast, even if they did reboot it would rapidly be out of date again. I can guarantee that what you might think is cool about current technology will look old, clunky, silly and probably slightly embarassing in as little as 5-10 years time. Or at least until it becomes old enough to become retro chic.

The whole charm of Star Wars is the mix of sci-fi with retro. Light sabers and clunky computers. Bounty Hunters with laser pistols but tin can armour. Much of the science in science fiction doesn't stand up to close scrutiny (not just SW). So stop trying to make it totally believable, enjoy it for what it is, escapism.
