One could hope.
No, unlike the PTS, you have to actually get the expansion to level onward to 55. Without the expansion, you'll be stuck at 50:

  • Any itemization/world changes which affect levels 1-50
  • Legacy Achievements

What subscribers will get if they do purchase Rise of the Hutt Cartel:

Probably an extra security precaution. Email addresses really should not be used for MMO logins IMO as many people do not take the time to make a unique email address for each MMO. And it is pretty clear from other MMOs that hackers have nabbed up email addresses from fan sites and 3rd party forums.

Not that they they have had the usual hacking problems that other MMOs have had, it's still a prudent thing to do.

If anything, I expect they would do a login process change ahead of an expansion release, just to separate the possible complications it presents with eveyone piling on the servers to play and plenty of old timers coming back for another try.

There is nothing that directly connects the two events that I can see, other then desire.
Well, I'm not on The Red Eclipse, nor do I have 1M, let alone 5M credits I could wager. But that said, I'm thinking this quote is entirely correct.

Not really.
It's been this way all along for F2P players so the only back-end change is to force subscribers into something that was done several months ago.

I don't doubt that this is something they're doing to streamline their account database for the future but I seriously doubt that they'd change this system at the same time they have an expansion deployment.

Now, that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the expansion follows a week or two later.

It'll more likely be 1.7.2 or 1.7.3

I expect they'll push 2.0 off to the very edge of spring if they can....UNLESS 2.0 comes out before ROTHC goes live.

Yes, that is possible. Just like WoW typically releases the next whole number (i.e. 4.0) about a month before the expansion comes out for people to get used to the new system changes. They may not do that, just saying it is possible.

2.0,3.0,4.0 means expansion

bioware didn't add makeb in pts because they don't want to ruin the surprise of the planet

2.0 and ROTHC are separate. You can have 2.0 without ROTHC.
On the Internet, you can be anything you want. It is strange so many people choose to be stupid.

Log in with display name has nothing to do with release of 2.0 or expansion as according to the info posted about it we should be able to log in with either email or display name now. Its just that the email half of it will go away on the 2nd.

Display Name Only Log In - Coming April 2, 2013

Please be aware that beginning on April 2, 2013, logging in to the game or website will require your Display Name. Email addresses will no longer be accepted; your Display Name will be the only accepted option.

This new change to the log in procedure is being implemented for several reasons. This change increases the security of our game authentication system, which helps continue to keep the game protected from many security threats including account takeovers.

In case you do not know your Display Name, simply:

You can use your Display Name for logging in to the website and game starting immediately and we encourage you to do so. We value our players and we want you to know that the continued security of your account is our top priority.

As always, be sure to check StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com for latest updates and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
