It definitely would make money, I don't really see how going from guardian to sentinel would be a big deal

Why would going from being a heavy armor wearing, single light saber wielding character to a medium armor, dual wielding character be a big deal? It's not like you'd have to find new gear, or even learn to play a whole new class, right? Oh...wait....

so given you don't want this and wouldn't want to use it, which I completely respect. Why on earth do you feel its of any value to keep droning on about it?

your point above, though there really isn't one, is that respec'ing an AC means new armour, weapons and learning new play style? so logically rolling a new toon would be out of the question too?

True statement.

really? you don't see the difference here? rolling a new toon forces you to learn how to play that AC during the leveling process.

Switching from a maura to a jugg at 50 hands you a handful of abilities that you have never used before and have no idea how they work together. jumping into HMs/Ops/PvP would be a disaster for you and your group.

It's larger then that in my opinion.

Choices have consequences. You make choices, you accept the consequences. If it is that important to you to change a bad decsion on your part, man up and roll a new character. This is not 1999 where it was a truckload of pain and effort to level a new character. Stop asking for "get out of jail free" cards. It just comes off as "being entitled" in my opinion, and there is frankly too much of that in the real world today. We don't need to encourage more of it in my personal opinion.

Separately, there is no precedent in the MMO industry for it.

Wait, there's no precedent in the MMO industry for the equivalent of advanced class respec? Wow... Just.... WoW...

Also, sure, choices should have consequences. If I punch a Marine in the face, I would expect to receive an appropriate consequence. Likewise, if I do a great job for my employer, I should also expect to receive an appropriate consequence.

But we're talking about a game here, not real life. Games are there to be entertaining and fun. That's why I pay to play them, at least. If a game is punitive, why play it?

The only reason I'll buy from the devs for class respec not being available is that it's extremely technically challenging and they've prioritized something else higher. If they ever say, "We feel that players should be punished for making a choice at level 10 that they would have known better than to make by level 35..." I'm SO outta here.

It's not any different from EVERY single other class-based MMO out there, where you even have to make your choice at lvl 1, where you have even less of an idea what direction it's going. So.. Bye! Can I haz yur stuff?

Rolling a new toon allows you to gear up as leveling and learn the skills and how they ineract with other skills as you level. This is not what would happen if people were handed fresh 50's, or new classes, for no effort.

It'd be both ridiculous and counter-productive for them to make 'paid class changes' happen. And yes, that's what it is, not a 'respec'.

The advanced classes are incredibly different from each other and deliberately so. They play so very different from each other and again, that's a deliberate design.

They 'want' you to make one of each of these classes because, in the long term, it makes them more money than simply having a paid service allowing to instantly swap from a light armor ranged dps to a medium armor melee dps, just as an example.
