Nothing you get from the cartel market is required to play the game.

Rumors and hearsay.

c) Did someone actually say the game was doing well when they merged the servers? Was the Makeb quote before or after the mass exodus and switch to f2p? I'll give you the p2w thing, but that's sort of irrelevant to the discussion of whether or not content that's not CM is coming. It has come and there seems to be more on the way.
It took them a year to fix the issue with companions forgetting to turn off their lightsabers. We still can't sit in chairs, don't have chat bubbles, can't toggle hoods, etc etc.

You really think the same team could create and implement an entire event, from scratch, in the few months since the game went F2P?

That's not a shot at the team, I understand there are priorities and other mitigating factors but it's pretty much a safe bet that any "new" content in the first couple of years of any MMO are things that were either pulled from initial release (for whatever reason) or things that were in progress prior to launch.

I'm sure much of the non CM content that we see was at a minimum in the planning stages while the game was still in development.

I'm equally sure that this stuff was not in "ready" state - it needed work before it could be released. Funding that work has to come from somewhere, right?

Your particular topic was that CM is not contributing to the development of ongoing content. What do you think is funding the non-CM content that is being produced?

Damion I believe, I'll see if I can find it in DevTracker

It's quite the opposite, actually. The success of the market (and it has been quite successful) has given us the time and resources to do some ambitious things on Makeb, and plan some very ambitious things beyond. The success of the Cartel Market means that there will be more good stuff for ALL players, paying, subscribers, and free.

Oh, I think the CM is contributing to development of content, it's just entirely CM content. It has quite clearly become the primary focus of their business plan going forward. I also think it will soon be their sole focus of revenue as they seem to be charging full steam ahead with converting to a purely cash shop business model.

Nobody could definitively say that the CM has or hasn't funded anything non-CM related. My point was less about the actual split of revenues and more about the obvious shift from developer focus on the game to focus on the store.

So if CM isn't funding non-CM features, what, in your opinion, IS funding non-CM features?

So basically any staff working on non-CM features are working for free? That's your theory?

If that's what the paper were full of, wouldn't you get some other sort of stains on your fingers while reading it?
