Screwed over by Bioware!

Looks like the OP finally got banhammered. Took way too long in my opinion. She was able to freely be rude and insult people who didn't agree with her multiple times/day.

For the record, I've never been "screwed over by Bioware", made it through two mergers, every time I've put in a ticket stuff gets taken care of, and the one time I called customer service they were awesome.

So here's just another person who decides to freak out when something doesn't go their way and not only that, they claim to speak for everyone which is just pathetic, and anyone who doesn't agree with them are the ones who are delusional and fanbois or some other junk.

It may seem a trivial issue, but it clearly means something to him, and from what information we've been given, BioWare really ought to grant him the name (even if it's in the form of simply restoring his previous alt who had it), or some kind of minor compensation (which admittedly, probably wouldn't be much, just some little something in-game, maybe a few Cartel Coins).

As far as legal requirements... it's very much a grey area. Like I said, digital rights are very much uncharted territory, as few people are willing to go to going over intangible objects. Still, a simple act of acknowledgement, a formal apology, and some sort of resolution would probably do a lot more good for their image, than the same amount of effort spent ignoring it will hurt it.
Read the terms of service. They can delete your character at any time, for any reason. Just because they didn't do it on purpose doesn't change that fact or impose any sort of liability. There's no grey area here at all.

Pretty much this.

However, the 'grey' area is more about their ability to throw in such terms.

Much like the inability to file class action law suits, just because of the terms of service.

The question here is: what rights you can take away, or the responsibilities you can evade, just by just making the consumer accept a ridiculous and copy pasted terms of service legal gibberish. It's getting out of hand.

There have been many jokes about this. But is not getting out of hand, its been there. Microsoft has some very scary ToS. And the thing is, how many of us EVER read that? Most of us scroll down to the bottom, click accept, and move on. Thats what the jokes usually are, you know, you accept then find out that they own your first borne, stuff like that. But its not really that funny, cause someone might just do that one day.

Really?? Another thread about someone QQ about their names?? Looking at the name list of the OP.. I can certianly see how he lost his names?? Titan?? Really?? Titan?? You don't think someone else would think to use that name?? Reaper?? Really?? Reaper?? You don't think someone else would think to use that name??

Grace?? Doom?? Bane?? Seriously dude.. Rampage?? No offense, but these would all be common names I would think.. I mean who wouldn't want a sith named Doom or Bane?? Again, no offense, but just about every player under the age of 18 would.. Again.. Please, no offense is meant here..

Naming Generator

Give that a whirl.. Mix and match the ones you like.. I used this to name all my characters and haven't lost a single name..

In the end.. You need to take a bit more time in creating the names for your characters, if you don't want someone else to think of them as well.. I'd say the only issue here was your own choice of names.. Again this is just my opinion..

Either the OP got banhammered, or just suspended for a while. Well you know, I'm just going to be a bit compassionate here. I can understand where he's coming from. I mean, there are names that you are attached to for so long that the thought of losing them can be quite the disappointment.

I do blame EAWare for their very poor prioritization of the naming, and I wish they could make an announcement of apologizing about this mess and hopefully getting names fixed (somehow).

I lost some good names with the merge but I'm over it. Sucks as the people who have the names now are inactive. I would love nothing more to get them back, but I don't see that happening, oh well.

I find it incredible that everyone who has lost a name, has lost it to someone that is either lvl 1, hasn't played in a decade or more, and just overall has no business with any name at all..

And with the number of times I have read that same thing over the forums.. I am guessing that almost every name in existence is on some lvl 1 nobody that is inactive and unsubscribed??

Why is that??

Just because a character is lvl 1 and not very active doesn't not mean in any way shape or form that they should lose that name and it should be given to you.. No.. Nodody in this thread has said that, but that appears to be the implication.. Why else point out they are lvl 1 and haven't played the game since the 70's??

I would also like to know how someone can tell if someone else is subscribed or not.. I am curious as to how some folks can make that claim?? If I am not mistaken, you don't have to be subscibed to use the Game time cards..

It sucks that folks lost their names.. It really does.. And while some want to blame Bioware for all this, I must point out that people wouldn't have been happy no matter how they did it.. It wouldn't have been fair to someone.. My guess is the person that lost the name.. We should be adults here.. This entire naming issue kinda silly.. If you lost a name, then make a new one.. But sitting around telling everyone that their name was lost to a lvl 1 character than hasn't played in a century or that they are not subscribed any more is getting old.. I am quite certian that someone out there lost a name to someone that is actually playing the character.. I know.. That doesn't sound as good does it??
