The vast majority hate this type of over the top gear. These god awful sets were made along time ago by the same designers that made the god awful Campaign sets. Bioware has even acknowledged it and said changes are coming in the future sets.

To be fair I do not think the sets are all bad. It is mostly the shoulder pads and helms. Its fine to have big shoulder pads if you wear heavy plate armor. Two of the more popular sets are the Rakata Trooper and the War Hero Bounty Hunter. Both sets have big shoulders, and they look great. Yet when you see an Assasin/Sorc wearing shoulder pads that are higher than their head, and said pads are made out of spiderwebs or huge blades, then you kind of scratch your head.

I guess it is hard to make a good looking helm without going over the top. I loved the Campaign Warrior Devil Helms. They were over the top, but it seemed like a fit for that class. Now you look at the kitty cat and moth helms for the Inquis and you think "***" The helm that really makes me want to move to China is the Bounty Hunter mummy helm. Forget that it is over the top. Forget that it is ugly as all hell. The problem is that one of the eyes are covered up! And covered with an Ace bandage at that lol. Endgame gear is supposed to look bad ***. That BH helm makes it look like you are deformed cripple that lives off of an Imperial disability check.

What the (beeeeep) is up with the Inq helmet?? The rest of the armor isn't that bad BUT the helmet.... REALLY Bioware??????? OMG horrendous!!

I would extend the thought to include "the vast majority hate over the top gear in ALL MMOs. WoW invented the franchise for over the top gear looks IMO, though maybe we should give a proper nod tothe Korean MMO shops as the worst offenders.

At least in this MMO, you can rip out the mods and move them to a gear look that is not over the top and meets your personal tastes. Not a claim that can be made about most other MMOs.

It's called 'The OLD Republic' for a reason...mind you, over 3000yrs before Vador, Luke etc. I think the new end-gear is just awesome! I just hope they keep pumping out more armor in the near future...

While I do not agree with you on the new gears "awesome" looks, I do agree that it is the old republic so yeah, fashion tastes in the old days would likely be different. We have evidence of 16th-17th century European garmets (vs today's style preferences) as ample comparative reference for your statement.

The irony of the entire ongoing angst about in game gear getting compared to the iconic looks of the original SW movies is that on close examination the gear and weapons in the movies has a very definite 70's look and feel to it, in classic hollywood style. Even the trooper armor in the movies is silly since it NEVER appears to stop a blaster bolt in the movies. Then again... it is really just glossy formed ABS over neopreme tights.

I do agree that fashion in old republic should be a little different, but come on.. first of all this is a game, and armor looks should be more about expectations less about being original. Second of all, troopers armors for example, look very similar to what they look in sw movies, so do jedi robes. Why change that to something so few find "not that bad" and everyone else is already considering riping out mods from. Im just happy ive found couple of sets i really like and havet gotten bored yet

Are you all crazy with this pregnant stuff ? I'm currently looking at the models, and the only part that is "round" is... hum, higher in the chest. The belly is as slim as ever.
If you're speaking about Arkanian, maybe you can say that the gear is a bit "baggy", but again look at the belt ! Have you ever seen a pregnant with a slim belly ?

As usual, I'll have to keep my helm hidden. Expecially that ingquisitor one.

I still find it strange that...
1. Someone designs it.
2. The design is approved.
3. The 3D models are created.
4. The models are approved.

And...this is what we get. Multiple people had to be involved in that process I'm sure.

I will admit that some individual pieces aren't bad, but overall the armor in this game is horrid.

I just cannot imagine a highly advance interstellar society dressing like that.

At least their toning it down on the shoulders a bit. Some of the Darths can't even walk through doorways without turning sideways.
