It's not that simple and you know it. There will be those of us they will lose from the market if microtransactions for everything occur. I for one will not play a game with microtransactions. If WoW moves to that model, I will no longer play that game either. I am not going to be nickled and dimed to death. It's amazing how many sheep are out there that can't see past the end of their own nose. In the end you pay more with a microtransaction system vs. a subscription. You are limited in your options unless you enable them via paid unlock. Subscriptions offer one the true ability to "play-their-way" in the form of a flat fee that is dirt cheap ( and it is $15 is nothing ) because of the maximum flexibility if offers. Microtransactions are greed driven plain and simple and the sheep that can't see this deserve what they get. I for one will not be shelling out money to any game company that adopts this model.

The way EA are thinking (and other games companies tbh) is that you buy a basic package but anything else is going to cost you. They are holding back content so they can charge you for it later. And that's wrong.
Agreed.

I agree there are a lot of sheep here and in other games. Unwilling to think strategically and look at the long term effect on gaming as a whole. P2Win and dumbed down "console" style games are the future. One of which I will have no part.

In the past, if you liked a game and wanted more content, you had to wait for the sequel and buy a whole new game. Now, they are adding on to games that we already own and like. That's what is is great about DLC and Expansions. Micro-transactions are more of fluff. It's stuff we don't need, but like to use to customize or experience more game. It is not stuff that you need in order to play the game. It is stuff that would not exist in the game if they just released the game and left it as-is. It is adding to a product and making it better. It is absolutely reasonable to charge for that. That is because the content is above and beyond what I paid for and what I need to play the game.

Yup

And its not as simple as dont buy it as some like to over simplify
and its not "they are not forcing you ..." nonsense either

I had every craft at 400 skill and was working on advanced schematics when bamm, Cartel Shop comes in and any chance at new schematics are removed from game.

All those crafts basically worthless once you hit 50 because all new armor skins, weapon skins, speeders, ship parts. ect come from Cartel Shop and CAN NOT BE CRAFTED or LEARNED

So right there you have proff positive that you are being forced.
If you want a new skin, you can no longer go out and earn it via questing. you can no longer learn it via reverse engineer. Your ONLY option is for you (or someone else first) to pay real money for item.

I could go example by example but those saying its not forced and dont buy are just pushing their agenda so never will convince them using logic or reality and cant afford to buy them.

For this player, while there is a ton of things that caused me to shut my account down come march 13th, the big turning points were the introduction of the cartel shop and how it changed the game from "quest for" to "purchase" mentality and this latest ill designed event. Those were the two things that pushed me over edge Id been balancing on for some time regarding this game and EA attitude towards its cust base.
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

Did you bother reading the entire thread or the referenced articles? What you state is not the future of Microtransactions at EA:

Quote:
Pay-to-win doesn’t bother me with free games, where the basic business model comes from players coughing up small amounts of cash to juice their characters. But there’s something a little unpleasant about including those features in a $60 box game. It tells the gamer that the full retail price isn’t enough to be something like a “preferred customer.” When I saw the pages of entrancing weapons in Dead Space 3 that I wasn’t going to be able to build without forking over more cash, it made me feel like I was playing an inferior game.

So it will NOT be about cosmetics in the future for an EA game.

I'm sorry... is this forum for SWTOR or for "other games?"

Nothing in this game is PTW yet. There is no need to complain about it until such time as there is something to complain about. But that just makes too much sense, doesn't it?

Indeed. Console Gamer mentality as Cat stated so eloquently.

Actually it does not make sense given past performance by EA. These are EA executives revealing their thoughts on games. This. Is. EA. we are talking about. Short term proffits. Period. They don't care if they have repeat customers as long as they have some sheep willing to play in their shark infested pool until they get their leg ripped off.
