Some of you complaining about the OP have some terrible forum names (not saying mine is any better mind you), when you talk about originality.

Next, I see comments on the OP using Bane, but really...Darth Bane sounds a lot better and inline with a Darth title, than Darth Halfort. And while Darth Suzie or Darth MyLittlePonyGirl is likely funny to quite a few players, and the idea of going LadyCantina'Love is maybe original to some, is let's face it...considered dumb to many.

But to be fair, even in games with unlimited naming potential, where the name is tied to your account and thusly can be any name you want, even if someone else has it, I still see XXXPHISHFACEXXX and sigh to myself.

But this also goes back to players just wanting to play a game and push buttons and nothing to do with them actually liking the setting/lore/story.

Mind you some of the names the OP posted only work with the lore if the OP planned to actually use the Darth title, or have some planned background story to make it work, where they have a name that is more a callsign.
I know I can come off as a crazed armadillo sometimes, but it's always based on the replies I get. I did have a plan for each and every one of my characters. It's that feeling you get from playing a character that further immerses you in the game... that's what's important to me. Whatever names I pick, their my names and I chose them because I like them. Shouldn't that be enough? Do I really need to take wall-to-wall crap for the names themselves? That's not what this post is about. You have no idea how nice it is for me to see someone who actually gets it, at this point.

Did this post really just happen? Seriously - if this was a moment in your life that you are having a hard time getting over...you are going to have a rough life. lol Perhaps if people playing this game spent as much time actually learning how to play their toons, instead of pondering the unfairness in life when they can't name their toons with such awesomeness as "Bane"...the swtor world would be a better one.

But *two thumbs up* for providing my early morning entertainment.

I still don't like my gunslinger being called Helena instead of original Helene. Call me crazy.

Well i'm still bitter I lost my best name in the first server transfer (that didn't have any rules attached to it like playtime etc), and I had that name since the second hour of early access. It's not like we didn't discuss all this MULTIPLE TIMES already , and already voiced concers about how absolutely MORONIC their naming system is even before the game even launched, but it's now WAY TO LATE for any changes to that. Deal with it. Or don't, and move on.

No, your not getting your names back. If they did give your names back everyone who lost a name is going to want their old names back. About the only way you will get your names back is if buy swtor, then you can do whatever you want. That assuming you have hundreds of million of dollars to throw away.

A name is just a name. I honestly don't expect most of the names I normally use in certain games to be available as they are semi common and I'm ok with that. I move on and come up with a completely different name.

What entitles you to these names more than the person that had them on the given server before you did? Sure your a higher level or have played longer, but you moved to their server. If someone moved to your server and stole your "iconic" names I'm pretty sure you would be in even more of a rage than you are now. Just move on and play the game, or wait for the next star wars MMO to be released in years to come so you can preorder your "names" for that. your choice. Plus Bane is technically illegal so you shouldn't have ended up with it at all.

Nobody's getting any names back. I just wanted to shine a light on the fact that I lost the very last of my original names because of an incompetent BW customer server employee. A fact that seems to be lost on most people who respond to this thread.

Not once, but twice I submitted a ticket asking for verification. Will my character's name be available once I delete the character? The answer was "yes, but it will be available for everyone"... which is exactly what I wanted to hear. I even explained to those idiots that the reason I asked was because I couldn't make a character named Bane on any other server without getting the "invalid name" error. Hell, I even asked if that was because the name wasn't allowed! But those nincompoops still didn't understand what I was talking about, evidently. Can a person really be that stupid by default or does that take special training? I ask because it's either stupidity of a very impressive level, or they lied to me. I tend to have too much faith in people's intelligence, so I really can't say for sure.

Every one was moved to a new server for the mega servers. The mechanism for selecting who will have a given name according to what most people think is how long you played that character, level, and probably other parameters like how many times you already had to change your name. Almost every one lost a name. I lost one name, but to be honest I wasn't playing that character and was a lvl 1. Thus, I don't feel too bad about losing the name since I wasn't using it. I was saving the name for when xfers were available for my sage. Ironically, when the second wave of force transfers occur I managed to acquire said name I lost on the harbinger for the second server transfer wave.

What entitles me to those names is the fact that I got them first. I moved server, yes, because Bioware forced the issue. If I had stayed on Bao-Dur, I would at least have had a fair chance to keep the names. And as much as Bane is "technically" illegal, I got it. I had it and it was mine. Nobody was ever going to take it from me until those weasels from the customer service lied to my face. Granted, they may just have been stupid, but that's no excuse. In my very clear English, I told them twice per message or more times in a chat that I had concerns about losing the name because of the fact that Bane apparently was part of the Star Wars canon and that I couldn't make a character on any other server without getting the "invalid name" error. I even pointed out the fact that when I was talking about the Star Wars canon, I wasn't talking about very old wooden ships with boomtubes. Another point (or joke) that was completely lost on them.
