Apparently, if you get on first... before everybody else... you can get those names if they're still free. I'm no quite sure why this point is being argued, but I've got tons of energy, how about you?

I see your name, and the first thing I think of is Dakkon Darkblade, minus the Darkblade (legacy name perhaps) and you added gj to it at the end (someone beat you to Dakkon?).

Some of you complaining about the OP have some terrible forum names (not saying mine is any better mind you), when you talk about originality.

Next, I see comments on the OP using Bane, but really...Darth Bane sounds a lot better and inline with a Darth title, than Darth Halfort. And while Darth Suzie or Darth MyLittlePonyGirl is likely funny to quite a few players, and the idea of going LadyCantina'Love is maybe original to some, is let's face it...considered dumb to many.

But to be fair, even in games with unlimited naming potential, where the name is tied to your account and thusly can be any name you want, even if someone else has it, I still see XXXPHISHFACEXXX and sigh to myself.

But this also goes back to players just wanting to play a game and push buttons and nothing to do with them actually liking the setting/lore/story.

Mind you some of the names the OP posted only work with the lore if the OP planned to actually use the Darth title, or have some planned background story to make it work, where they have a name that is more a callsign.

Actually, yes, as long as you don't delete those names, it does give you the right to the name. You got it first. And if it's not some rule breaking name, you shouldn't lose your name to someone who hasn't played in a long time, if you're forced into a server merge.

It's this reason that server merges are a bad idea to begin with. People do infact pick the server they start on, because it has the name they want free. Not everyone, but some do.

I would say if someone has been inactive for 6 months they should lose their name if someone else wants it.
I would support this. as I lost my name in transfers as well, and I haven't seen that particular player online in like forever

Really? You think Bane was put on a list because of Batman movie?
<sarcasm>It surely cannot have anything to do with Star Wars trilogy about Darth Bane (written by Drew Karpyshyn, published 2006), now could it? </sarcasm>

And i agree with you.

Unfortunately the name in question, he is arguing against IS A RULE BREAKING NAME.
He isnt allowed it, hence why he doesnt have it

Bane might be. But he mentioned others, that I was under the impression of not being rule breaking (like Reaper or Titan). But I honestly couldn't list all the various Darth names in use in the EU.

I lost contact with many of mine good friends. They were best guys i have ever met in an online community.I had to give a break to game at april because I had to go to army for 5 months. After I was back my old server ( tott doneeta ) was merged to tomb of freedon...

Although I lost contact with my friens and had to rename my coolest named characters server merges had to be done. There was very very low population on my old server. There used to be 50ish ppl on 8:00 pm of my local time ( close to europe ) on fleet.Rest of the day I could hardly run across an other player ( ally or enemy ) , all I could see were less then 5 ppl on fleet chat. They did what should had be done by merging servers. They ignored ppl who lost coolest character names but they served lots of lonely players in very low populated servers like tott doneeta.

Making server transfers an option or those lonely people just making new characters on other servers, would have done the same thing, if the players were that lonely.

But I have no idea if there is some money saved on shutting down a server. My guess would be yes, but I don't know for sure.

OP has mentioned the point of this thread often.,,

Well the point of this thread seems to be either all agree with you or they are morons, or they dont get the point of this thread.

Im a relatively new player here, but this happened... what half a year ago?

I see no point of bringing this up anymore. 99% of players would get over it in a couple of hours, or maybe day or two. Seems like an obsession to me. Sorry I dont mean to be rude, but I had to said it.

No clue if someone had the name or not, I tend to add gj to the end when I make usernames/forum handles. An old habit from an old rpg forums I use to regularly visit, as to Dakkon I am aware of the MTG card, but that is not what inspired the name. I saw the card only after I had already been using the name.

When it comes to my in game characters rarely will they use the same name as my username/forum handle.
