Only ones I play on are RP servers. One is lucky to have half the players the other does. On both servers world populations vary from well-populated (newbie worlds) to near deserted (any 30+ world).

The game still has its one enormous flaw... It makes a great first impression but can't retain interest at all because nothing in gameplay changes as you level.
Its been a long while, but my count after the server increases put the total across Europe and NA at around 120 IIRC. I don't think we ever had over 100 NA servers alone.

How so? It still makes money and EA is still far more successful then its counterparts. Such as Activision.

EA is so huge that TOR could have double WoW's playerbase or 4 people, it wouldn't make much difference to their bottom line.

Activision is heavily dependent on Blizzard, and nobody has made a successful game for Blizzard to copy in many years.

Because the goal was for WoW numbers who would be subscribers. F2P was not part of the plan pre-launch. It was done because the game had a massive, massive drop off.

$200-$300 million dollar budget for the numbers of subscribers we have is a failure. You will now argue tooth and nail against this very simple fact because you like this game, not because it's false.

This game is a massive failure and only fan boy goggles get around this simple fact.

cannot be that much of a failure. You obviously still have a sub or you wouldn't be in the forums..

The shadow lands server is very busy..

Sunday noon there was almost 300 people in the IMP fleet alone..and in the instance of Dromund Cass I was in there was almost 200 people in there alone as well. I switched to another instance for a group and there was 173 in that one.

and that's only one server , 2 instances of a single planet and the fleet and that was just under 600 people ...

+ i am regularly needing to grind and kill NPC's waiting for assets to respawn so i can complete quests since there is just that many people doing the same quests at the same time...

i think you just have your hate shades on so tight for what ever reason you can't see the reality that the game is not dying at all , is actually quite busy and the server populations are healthy. All servers on Sunday were showing very heavy loads on them , same with Saturday and Saturday night...friday night....

all servers expect Asia are pretty much showing standard populations..

+ physical server count cannot be taken as a benchmark any longer for game population. Server technology has gone leaps ahead and you can have as many players on a single server now as you used to have on 10 older servers using old tech and less capable hardware and pipelines that were not as fat ( fiber optic for Eg)

Lemme try this again...

The goal was for a WoW level of subscribers. This has failed. The game in now in damage control mode.

The only people who can't see this like the prequels.

That's an inaccurate assessment of EA's finances. Having "WoW's playerbase"(the number provided is actually an extrapolation of revenue not the other way around from Blizzard) would result in something like a 25% revenue increase. Having double that would be a roughly 50% revenue increase.

*EDIT

Either way, trying to estimate TOR's individual financial stability is pretty hazy at best. The management is taking an optimistic position with it, we might have a better idea when they release their MD&A.

It's still going, with no closing in the future. That's not much of a failure.

Why are you paying a sub to simply troll?

Depends on where you set the bar. Their goal was for WoW numbers. How's that working out?
