While $10 bucks isn't a lot of money. I would have rather have spent $60 or more and get the uber edition of a full blown expansion. With two planets, a free space redone space combat system, two OP's 4-6 'new' flashpoints with the flashpoints you do while leveling added to the tier 2 hard mode. New spells, new trees, more ways to get the same gear that drops in OP's if you don't have the time to dedicate to getting that gear do to your daily schedule. It's been over a year and we're not getting a whole lot of new content. You're getting changes to existing content. They threw in the Gree event, and then will bring it back in the 3rd or 4th qtr to try and make things exciting. All because they had layoffs and nobody to code and come up with the new content. We're getting crumbs. I hope they have a huge expansion planned for the two year mark.

As i posted before seems this patch which is 2.0 is available to all players. So i guess all the new abilities will be available with out the need to buy ROTHC.

Game Update 2.0 will be available for all players when it is released (Free-to-Play restrictions will still apply).

2 year mark will add 10000000 new planets and you will still complain that they did not add 9000000000000 planets TOOL!

From what i read/heard - patch 2.0 is for everyone FREE. And this lvl cap 55 and new isntance will be for everyone for free. Patch 2.0 is just another update before expansion.
But i may be wrong.

Funny you manage to quote that specific bit of the announcement, but not a few lines below it (under the list of features of 2.0)

The new Operation and Hard Mode Flashpoints in Game Update 2.0 are Level 55 Elder Game Content. The level cap increase to 55 is included with the purchase of the Digital Expansion, Rise of the Hutt Cartel.

So what does that mean? Well, that means everyone will get all these things you see here, but you can't do any of them until you buy RotHC because of level requirements. This also includes the activated abilities, which are all level 51 trained abilities.

So the person I quoted and lunathyk above me, you heard/read wrong. The direct Bioware source says so.

Yeah, this.

It's pretty silly that EA couldn't put more information out back when preorder started. Show us the armors. Show us the new skills. Anything specific. That would have generated a lot more interest way back then, just like it is now.

Seeing everything that's available now, it's definitely worth the $10 and then some. I probably will order it very soon.

This logic is so faulty on so many levels.

OK, first off, the original team and probably management screwed up HARD. So hard that this game went F2P quicker than any subscription based game in history. That means it lost a lot of players and a lot of revenue.

Now being in the position they were in, they made the decision (rightly or wrongly) to completely change their revenue model and go F2P. A lot of people, myself included, gave EA a lot of grief over this decision. A lot of us expected them to focus almost entirely on cash shop stuff, and definitely to the detriment of any other content, especially stuff that was complicated and effort intense like endgame stuff.

But they did what they had to do to make the game SURVIVE. They couldn't have supported a huge team on the revenues they had. Yes, they screwed up, but every day requires day-forward thinking. How do we make it better from here? So yeah, smaller team.

Now, several months into F2P, I can say I was wrong, happily, about how they're applying their staff. Yes, they're putting effort into cash shop, and that seems reasonable since that's a revenue stream.

But the kicker is that they're also investing quite significantly in new content. The Gree event is an example. 2.0 is a HUGE example. Everything they've got there takes a lot of work. A lot of people. A lot of hours. A lot of money. And they're selling it for a measly $10.

If you want monstrous expansions, you're probably playing the wrong game. This game doesn't currently have the player-base (meaning revenue base) to produce massive expansions.

However, the team has shown now, at least IMO, that they're producing non-CM content in a volume and at a pace that, frankly, I never expected they would or could.

So, kudos to EA on this expansion and on your management of the cartel market thus far.

I hope this brings many former players back and new players in. You have to have earned that.

Good points, though you actually forgot to add one other important aspect as well:

Players of F2P or Freemium games are used to spending small amounts of money regularly. Many of these players would actually not want to buy a full priced $60 expansion on a game they usually spend $15-$20 a month on. So, a developer actually risks pushing those players away by asking a full $60 for an expansion.

Emotionally, as has been posted by so many others, spending $10 is something almost everyone can miss in their monthly budget. A spending of $60 already has a lot of people considering if they should or should not spend that money.
