No one ever said you needed to be the most skilled or anything other, to become a Darth. If you are devious enough you will get there. As long as you can contend your title you are considered worthy of it. Some Darths get there simply because of simple luck (or the force) and a devious mind.

I agree with you, there are a lot of Darths out there that really dont deserve their titles, and the honour it brings. So others will vye for their position eventually, and someone will, at some point, claim that title. Such is the way of the Sith. You will always get some of the weak that slip the net which is meant to weed them out.

Zash was not a Darth at first. She was just a lord,

. So the only higher ranking Darths are members of the Dark Council and Emperor on top of them. Also nothing strange about it. Darth Vader, Darth Tyranus and Darth maul were all under Darth Sidious, even though he's also a Darth.

That' not really how I really how I remember it...

Jedi are not able to smite legions in the movies, Jedi are much weaker in the movies than any game. Even something as common (In Games) as healing is considered unnatural, mysterious and difficult ability that only a few have achieved.
Jedi are OP only in Singleplayer games, where Jedi is the main character.

Though it is partially true, this is not necessarily true and it is not so simple. Actually, in the Bane trilogy there is a reference to what Darth means in this timeline:

"The Darth title was more than just a symbol of power; it was a claim of supremacy. It was used by those Dark Lords who have sought to enforce their will on the other Masters. It was a challenge — a warning to bow down or be destroyed."
―Sith Blademaster, Kas'im

Basicly, any Sith who felt they had the might to challenge others to take them down had the right to claim the Darth title. But, because of the way the Empire now works, trying to work together under the Emperor, a lot of people are basicly able to claim the title of Darth because their positions within the Empire give them safety, not because their personal might does so. No true loyal Imperial Sith will kill other Sith merely for personal power. This actually leads to a situation where there are so many Darths the title barely means anything anymore. This is the situation we are in now.. Where the Darth title is nothing more than something to claim you are important.

This will, in a few thousand years, eventually lead to the Brotherhood of Darkness, and Bane's era. The Brotherhood is a Sith order which actually removed the use of the Darth title because of it's historic significance. To claim the title would merely create internal strife, and break the alliance needed to fight the Army of Light. It was not until Bane himself claimed the title once more, and later created the Rule of Two after Ruusan, that the title would again have it's historic significance restored.

We are now, basicly, at the start of the era that leads to the weak Brotherhood of Darkness.. the fake-Sith so to speak. An Empire who's strength is cooperation instead of strife to gain power. And in that, it actually has great lore significance. So the poster who claimed this is no real lore just because he dislikes this, should study his lore better.

Above is not true. Below is what the codex states for Darth under Titles section of respective class-

Sith Warrior: "The Dark Council officially recognized your authority as a Darth after you defeated Darth Baras."

Sith Inquisitor: "You earned this title after defeating Darth Thanaton before the assembled Dark Council on Korriban."

Ok let's see which one does not fit the Darth title?

All Dark Council members got no problem.
Darth Malgus and Darth Angral are not council members but fearsome Sith generals.
Darth Gravus handled Taris well, he was very cunning and calm, surely deserves a Darth.
Darth Serevin is a top diplomat of the Empire.
Darth Tormen is also a quite strong general, savage but got a brain on important situation.
Darth Charnus is the right hand of Decimus.
Darth Lachris is the current leader of the council, Marr's apprentice and managed a planet.
Zash's manipulation and knowledge deserve a Darth title.

Not enough information about these 2:

Darth Viktus didn't show much, but since he is in charge of such a important planet like Alderaan, he should be some important figure.
Darth Achelon Too little information.

Darth Skotia is under Thanaton, but I remember Zash said he's a quite strong Sith if he's not disabled.

Only Darth Zhorrid is a joke but I guess she received this title only because of her dad.

That's all the Darth I remember.

I find it ridiculous that there are so many Darths we can easily beat the crap out of. Vemrin was tougher for some!

I think that is a lesser problem compared to every single sentient being that can be force sensitive. First flesh beasts, then rakghouls, of all beings.

Now there is even a hint in a certain class story that *droids* can be force sensitive.
