I don't understand how with as long as the OP has been around that he did not know any of this info that he is supposedly surprised by today. With the way he wrote up this thread, I thought that he was new.
Crosswire - Republic Commando
Commander - The Way of the Maker Christian/Family-rated Guild
Ebon Hawk

My Sage dps set bonus are mostly worthless (TK Throw costs 25 force instead of 27 yay?)

My Commando dps set bonus are indispensable (Free High Impact Bolt) Without my free HiB I'd have to work too many Hammer Shots into my rotation and my dps would go from fantastic to meh.

Edit: As to the OPs original point, I just don't see the problem. When my sniper hit 50, wearing the black and gold cartel armor I purchased, I put on my free Tionese outfit in the head, legs, hands and feet, and color matched to the cartel chestpiece. It still looked great.

Each time I have enough BH comms to buy another armoring, I swap another piece of cartel gear back in.

Between the new space missions and the group finder flashpoints, you can get a TON of BH comms without ever stepping foot in an operation.

I really don't see the fuss.

Valid point... I played when the game launched, then after 3 months, left and came back in December of 2012.... so, lots have been missed. I been using the forums to try and catch up.... Some things were not so black and white either, aparently many were asking about the mods and bonuses back in June/July of 2012, but I did not read those until last night....

Its not like there is a notice on the Armor that says "these bonuses will not transfer"... They could have handeled that part a bit better and eliminated much of the confusion.

Also, I never played a MMO before, I never thought I would want to even bother to try the game beyond LvL 50 story end... But i am just about to explor that, and outfitted a Jugg and a Sentinal with better stuff. My wife is like me, we are not MMO people, but looknig into if we should be, so this encouraged us to get more involved with the Armors and the mods at these higher levels thinking things like those bonuses will make more of a difference to the experience. Aparently its not as big a deal as I had thought as the replies I am getting validate that fact.

In saying that, there should have been a clearer way of knowing this.... The CM makes them money, thats great for them, I just wanted to be SURE the money I spend is also not wasted by end game and thats the main reason I posted... and when you pay money for somethign, you want a return on it. All I ask is for my Armor to be competitive, its the look we want. Again....

I am not a troll or a jerk, but a paying customer that has a valid complaint. I appreciate all the replies, it at least eased my mind that we will be competitive and not be "gimped" by the loss of the bonuses or not good enough to be in groups with others. However, we were not going to sacrifice the look we desire, which is huge for our immersion, to be tossed away after spending money for the look....

Make sence as to why I started the post?

Why buy Cartel stuff and have to suffer at any point in the game?

Better question:

Why should some gear have mods that transfer for set bonus and orthers its tied to the shell?
Because when they created the first two tiers of level 50 armor they were building them differently and changing that seems to be too difficult to manage. That's why for two tiers the bonuses are part of the shell.

I agree. They should go back and do the work. Remove the bonus from those shells and make it part of the Armoring mod. Leaving the first two tiers of level 50 gear messed up just points out their mistake every single time someone hits 50.

Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive.

someone who understands my point and provided a clear reason as well.... Thank You!

I would also venture to say, most of the community probably does nto read the forums..... I did, but after I transferred the mods to find out it would not work. I bassed it on another post about transferring of mods, that one did not actually state it had to be BH Armor....
After I transferred all the stuff, is when I realized its not working and went reading as many posts as I can, to find out this fact.... Really not a good way to have to know, they could have communicated this better. That thread even went as far as saying, if your armor mod says (chest), (feet) or what ever, to make sure you move it to the proper piece and you will get your bonuses. It took tons of reading BEFORE I fould one that pointed to a post by Bioware on that very topic about version 1.2 gear and beyond and that Tionese, Rakata and Columni (spelling?) would not transfer.

At that moment, i was a bit frustrated....

All I want, is the bonuses I already earned and not have to look like a charachter from the Terminator, nothign more.... Well, maybe someone that actually knows how to make nice in game Armor, some of the stuff is just really bad looking... totally immersion killing!
Dude? Bonuses are not life-savers. I didn't use bonuses for a very long time because I preferred my looks over it and I am raiding with one of the top guilds. :l

Getting Black Hole commendations to get yourself an armoring with bonuses, which arrived in recent patches, is not a problem at all.

Every single player (and there are a lot of them) who are currently using the shells for their set bonus would be screaming bloody murder.

According to Bioware it's to much a Pain in the @ss to reprogram the game to to put the Tionesse/Columi/Rakata bonsus on the armoring mod instead of the skin, so to fix it they allowed you to buy the Campaign Armoring mods from npc vendors which has the set bonus tied to it...

Besides the set bonsus are not that great, I never even used them on my Tank, Healer and DPS when I was playing because I didn't like the skins of the Tionesse/Columi/Rakata gear... You act like the game is unplayable without the set bonus.... Also you only need 4 Campaign armoring mods to get the full set bonsus, won't take you but a couple weeks of casual play to get it..
F2P is like driving on a long stretch of highway with toll booths every 1/2 mile

I've personally chosen to strip the mods out of my freebe Tionese to put in my piecemeal cartel set on my latest 50s simply because I love the look I have. I've found it hardly affects my overall gameplay in the slightest.
This, for the 1000th time on this forum, this.
For FP's and SM ops that you do to get your BH comms, you do not need the set bonus.
