I bought the valiant jedi armor and ended up deleting the character with it bound because i didn't like the class i was playing at all (Guardian) and didin't like his face anymore . They should really be account bound even if it wasn't a big deal to me since $15 is nothing.

What, exactly, does this have to do with this thread?

0/10

At least read the first post next time. Hell, even the post above yours would have given you some idea of how utterly meaningless your contribution would have been.

Again, the post is for others to be FULLY AWARE before buying Cartel gear... At the time of purchase, I was not aware I would face a point I have a limitation on things like, match set bonuses.

Its not game breaking, but very frustrating and a GOOD reason to NOT buy anymore Cartel Armor, until they address that issue.
It has zero to do with Cartel items and all to do with customization. Reason being is this effects all orange gear, not just Cartel items.

And they did address it, buy letting you purchase BH armoring for decent prices.
That's why they call it space, cause there is so much of it.

A small disclaimer in Cartel is all that would have been needed....

People come on her frustrated at times, because there is just a lack of information. I had to read several threads before I started to realize the mods in Tionese wont tranfer bonuses. In buying new stuff from Cartel, i just feel more information should be provided.

Bioware just needed to better communicate this kind of information, that will avoid many from frustration. This is NOT the only case....

From the many that complain about a great many things I have read from day one, its really poor communication from Bioware thats really their biggest issue, the game itself is very enjoyable and slowly improving.

What they need is a PR person and a Armor Designer that knows what Star Wars Armors should look like.... A Terminator outfit is cool, but not on a Sith Lord IMO. lol.

Then again, bad in game Armor design is a reason some of us will shop in Cartel....and that makes EA very happy.

There are quite a few games where set bonuses on gear don't necessarily mean its the best gear you can equip.
Not to mention that Tionese was part of the game well before F2P was the official direction the game was headed. I'm pretty sure they made the change to have set bonuses bound to armorings instead of shells well before F2P was the official direction too.

In sum it's not that the devs consciously decided to screw over CM set buyers, it's just a matter of original game mechanics not quite meshing perfectly with the game as it stands today. Sort of like how, to my knowledge, there aren't level 1 mods that can be crafted because in the original game there weren't shells that could be used at level 1.

However, to those who say the game armor doesn't look like Star Wars, I say this: chalk it up to fashion trends. This game is set something like 1,000 years BBY. Fashions come and go and shoulder pads were in during this time period. That just means my assassin was out of style and likely got made fun of a lot.
LOL... Maybe the shoulder wings went out of style because they got stuck in doorways, or swept away in high winds...
We did have horrible fashion on Earth in the 70ties, so it is possible, wings were a huge hit 1000 years before Vader in SW... :-)

However, the idea that once you get better gear, after lvl 50, unless you are willing to wear the ugly junk, you have to spend a small fortune to remove all the mods, to put them in the gear you got from Cartel and to make matters worse, you lose the match set bonuses. The Gear for my Jugg would have made him look like a robot, why in the word would I want that? Looks good on Pierce though… but he won’t be getting any set bonus because the bonus is tied to the warrior class.

My point, a MATCHED set should be a MATCHED set after lvl 50…..So, the people buying from Cartel do not get shafted on bonuses once they get to Tionese, Rakata stuff. Why are those mods not able to transfer the bonus? My wife and I are both annoyed by this, she also has Cartel Armor and feels like she should get the bonus she earned by getting to lvl 50. The Tionese Armor for her, looks like it has wings on the shoulders… lol. Like me, she pulled all the mods and armor and transferred it.

Does this hurt the game for us? Not really, but if we had to wear that ugly stuff, would have hurt immersion to a point I may have stopped playing. I see NO REASON to buy anymore set armor from Cartel, since it has a limited lifespan in the game itself.

Anyway... Others should be fully aware of this before they spend their money....

Either wear the ungly immersion killing gear, or lose the bonuses is the real only option for people like us. I know others do not care, all they care bout is having the best stats for PvP... We want to feel like we are really in the galaxy and how we look MATTERS a great deal.
just buy campign armoring/ farm War hero gear for the armoring pop them in the gear you like and it isn't that expensive to pop mods in and out it' like 10-12k a mod depending on your gear lvl that's chump change for me especially with dallies

my good reason for not buying cartel stuff is that I already pay a sub.

And thats enough.

If I recall, you couldn't even remove the mods from the end-game sets, so you were stuck wearing that ugly crap.

So when they patched it to make the mods removable, they obviously didn't think about the set bonus being tied to shell. I'm guessing it would be more trouble than it's worth to reprogram the gear to move the set bonuses to armorings so they just decided to do it going forward, i.e. campaign armors.

You could have waited until Fall 2013 when they're supposedly adding a barbershop (still would have been stuck with a Guardian though, they've said they will NEVER add AC changes under any circumstances).
