Well, thats the decision we made and kept the look over the bonus.

Still, Others shold be fully aware of this before they buy the expensive set Armors...

Honestly this happened because of lazy programming on BW part. The old 50 gear is not as important for BW to fix because players will soon replace them with the higher end gear. That is why only the War Hero and Black hole gear or above has the set bonus tied to the armoring mod and not the armor shell. Its frustrating, but all you can really do is either suffer not having a set bonus for awhile or suffer looking goofy for awhile.

Just do what I did. The biggest part of the "look" to any set, is the chest piece. Since you only need 4 pcs to get the bonus, use the cartel chest to get the biggest part of the look you want and then wear 4 other tionese/rakata until you can buy the campaign armorings. Then unify colors so they all match your cartel chest piece.

Problem solved. Move on.

Why buy Cartel stuff and have to suffer at any point in the game?

Better question:

Why should some gear have mods that transfer for set bonus and orthers its tied to the shell?
I agree!

Before cartel market items, I could see it. But now they're going "Here's items, pay extra money for them, oh but you'll lose bonuses for awhile if you use what you paid for"

Don't screw over the people who are paying extra money to look the way they want. This suggestion encourages people to pay extra money out.

Also, while we're at it, I suggest making cartel outfit have no mods in them, so you can use the items at level 1.

Not really. I know for my BH I had every piece I wanted in place. The only armor piece that didn't matter was the wrist bracers.

My JK has the same issue, and I didn't even go the Cartel Market route with her.

I see many solutions, they are all work arounds and Bioware should really adress it.... I paid $20 (2400 CC) for Armor for my wife and I to have matching Armor, its what we wanted, so mixing and matching, is not a viable solution.

Again, the post is for others to be FULLY AWARE before buying Cartel gear... At the time of purchase, I was not aware I would face a point I have a limitation on things like, match set bonuses.

Its not game breaking, but very frustrating and a GOOD reason to NOT buy anymore Cartel Armor, until they address that issue.

Wait... Good reason not to buy cartel armor set is that they do not come with end-game modifications / it costs a little bit of credits to put end game mods into them? What are you doing that you cannot afford to put mods into the armor set of your choice?

The end game stuff was earned and PURCHASED, but only some of it can transfer their bonus, as long as its NOT Tionese, Rakata and such... Thats just plan stupid.

All I want, is the bonuses I already earned and not have to look like a charachter from the Terminator, nothign more.... Well, maybe someone that actually knows how to make nice in game Armor, some of the stuff is just really bad looking... totally immersion killing!

also, not everyone is Joe Cool, with 5 mil in the bank... even then, can the armor mods be purchased that will give a set bonus? The last time I looked for just a lvl 50 purple armor, it was 500k, thats for starters....

You can buy campaign armorings (the ones with the bonus on the armoring instead of the shell) for BH comms from the BH vendor, as people have said earlier in this thread.

EDIT: You asked earlier why the bonus isn't tied to the armoring in tionese/columi/rakata. The reason is that at launch it was tied to the armor shell, then they decided LATER that they wanted to tie the bonus to the armoring. It was a change in design philosophy and I'm pretty sure they've said that they aren't going to retroactively change those first tiers. Sorry, dude

Quite frankly, the set bonuses are so hit and miss for your respective class that I'd be inclined to call them mostly garbage. At least with regard to the Tionese/Columni/Rakata sets. Furthermore, the content required to get you black hole comms is so trivial, that it can be done with simply MKII PvP gear most of the time (at least for tier 1), which has no set bonuses. I've personally chosen to strip the mods out of my freebe Tionese to put in my piecemeal cartel set on my latest 50s simply because I love the look I have. I've found it hardly affects my overall gameplay in the slightest.
