Would something like that stop every single person from complaining? No. However, the rational beings among us (yes, there are a few) value clear communication when it affects a product delivery.
That level of communication would be wonderful. It would really only apply if they had set an actual release date, though. Don't get me wrong, I would be happy with them dropping notes on the forum, but they rarely set definite dates, therefore don't have "deadlines" to miss.

Thanks for saying exactly what I said. It really needed to be said again.

EXACTLY!!! I'm certain I'm not alone in stating that I would defend Bioware if they were to even state that little. Delays happen, this isn't McDonalds and bugs/issues can be a massive pain to track down - I'll give them the time they need happily.

I simply feel that I, as the customer, have a right to know when they deviate from their "goals" and the deadlines THEY have set. It's not the end of the world if it's late, I don't know that we're losing anyone because of a delay, I wouldn't be upset, I don't want or need a detailed explanation...just a heads up.

Communication from a gaming company buys a crap ton of good will. Showing that THEY care for their own product, makes others care too. When they're ambivalent and seem oblivious to everything, the forums become increasingly more and more negative.

They didn't set a hard and fast due date, but they certainly set a timeframe. This is one of those things where, yes, legally they obviously don't have an obligation to meet the 9 week date they set. Does it make good sense to communicate with your customers if you aren't going to follow through on something you advertised? Yep, yep it does.

My HOPE is that they're testing the crap out of 1.7 in-house and that it will be released on Tuesday relatively bug-free. However, if they're running late, let us know sooner rather than later.
aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?

that may be true for you personally, but it isnt true overall. the more info any game ( even single player games ) release early, the more negative threads/posts/twitter garbage/rage rants on youtube.

has been true with every comment and interview all the way back before launch even. just take BW saying their goal is a 6-8 week content patch cycle. first off, 90% forget the "to 8" part and just go with, "BW said 6 weeks, its been more than 6 weeks!!". second, they said their GOAL is 6-8 weeks. are they going to meet that goal every time? probably not. but it is what they are shooting for. but if/when they dont meet that goal then you'll get all the, "BW lied!!", "BW promiced 6 weeks!!!", "game is dying!!!!!", its an EA plot to steal our money".
can't wait for this game to come out!

Yes. Thank you. Now, if they are going to be WAY off of schedule, they could drop a note. But I'm talking about when they get to the 10-12 week range. Amazing how some people don't get that goals are not hard deadlines.

You don't have a "right" to anything. You might feel like you do, but you don't. The only "right" you have is access to the stated product (aka your license).

Throwing around terms like "right" only cheapens the term. You have a right to freedom of speech and press. That is a right.

As a paying a consumer you don't have a right to anything except game access (aka a license).

Stop using that term.

Yes yes ... we know EAware uses "exact" language with no "wiggle room". /Sarc

Basically everything out of EAware is like talking to "worm tongue". Words that drip with "subjective" honey to be so crystal clear to be interpreted by the hearer in whatever way the individual wishes to divine the meaning.

This kind of double talk is dishonest quite frankly. I would rather they just stick to saying Soon!!(™), rather than give any type of target.

Face it. We KNOW they aren't going to EVER meet our expectations. They have continuely let us down since before launch. It's SSDD.

The only clear message you get is when you see whatever "preview" clip they roll out at gaming conventions and "promise that it will be out this year". I think the only thing we have a hope of holding EAware to is something will happen "this year". Anything else, is folly.

I for one would like to see more time between releases coupled with that time being spent on the PTS. You know like Blizzard does it.

12/18/12 - 1 week
12/25/12 - 2 weeks
1/1/13 - 3 weeks
1/8/13 - 4 weeks
1/15/13 - 5 weeks
1/22/13 - 6 weeks
1/29/13 - 7 weeks
2/5/13 - 8 weeks
2/12/13 - 9 weeks

And as to the question of whether I'd want them to release a buggy version or wait, the response is that while obviously I would prefer a clean version, what I would most want in that situation is to be told earlier rather than later. If they're delayed, let us know. Yes, there will be fussing, but if they wait till the last minute that fussing will get a lot lot worse.
I agree with you, the lack of communication from dev team has been shameful to say the least. They keep us in the dark and refuse to clarify common questions, not only that gives the impression that they are not working on solving issues, it completely frustrates us that care about the state of the game.

Actually I was translating what you said since you didn't articulate it well.

You're welcome.
