Jedi can jump lore-wise, however, this is a game, and there is a very important distinction between Gameplay and Storyline.

we already have force leap and i don't think troopers have that ability, are they over matched?
give troopers grappling hooks and bounty hunters jet packs and ect...

but come on already, im standing in front of a rock that's just a little higher than me and me a powerful jedi can't even jump on top of it....bloody stupid
The force jump is there to help Knights get into a fight, as they are useless at any range beyond 4m, which is not true for troopers (vanguards can get jumping too, btw, and they have grapple to pull enemies to them)
Supreme Commander of all riots yet to come
Without the darkness, how would we recognize the light?

in the movies they can jump like 50 ft at least.
what are they doing at BioWare to miss such a basic Jedi/Sith skill
Where's the punchline?
If there is a punchline, I don't see it, or get it.
I posted in a troll thread and all I got was this lousy T-Shi.. wait.. This is just a regular T-Shirt!

this is a jedi trait......i mean the other day i was standing in front of a ledge that was just a little higher than my head and i couldn't even get on top of it, not because i wasn't allowed to cause i found a way around to get up there.
it was because my powerful force wielding Jedi couldn't jump 6 feet up to the ledge......just saying.
Be that as it may, THIS is still a Game and this Game isn't built for that sort of action.

To be fair, I've had the Force Jump / Jetpack / Grappling hook idea myself. I agree it can't be done because the world maps weren't designed for it. That being said, much like (and I hate to make this overused comparison) WoW, the old zones were re-designed to allow for flying mounts. I don't see it being impossible for the same thing to happen in SWTOR, which would then allow these funky abilities to be implemented. I think it'd also spice up the game, to be honest -- it'd make traversing the worlds fun, rather than a chore.

I don't know how this would affect PvP; it may need to be restricted for Warzones. Or maybe not? I don't do PvP so I wouldn't know.

Actually I'd be happy if Jedi didn't take falling damage. To me falling damage seems even more odd than not being able to jump properly.

In Real Life when people (like me) want to climb onto the top of a rock, we use our hands to pull ourselves up while we push off with our feet... maybe they should add those mechanics instead since they are far more realistic than jumping 10ft in the air... We all know people don't climb by Kangaroo hopping...

Troopers do have grappling hooks, and Bounty Hunters do have jetpacks... the graphics are worked into certain skills they can learn.

If you want to play as a powerfull Jedi that can use 'Force jump' as a non offensive ability... go play a Single player Star Wars game...

I'd like that too, but I can understand why they haven't implemented it.

What makes movies cool is different from what makes games playable. This change would require complete redesign of warzones, for example.
Quicker
Easier
More seductive

I asked for a vertical force jump on DAY ONE,..when this game launched I noticed that immediately.....no vertical jump...***.....it's unforgiveable that this game does not have it. I can only hope that they put this into the game further down the road available for every class

Imagine Fleet and everybody bouncing around like kangaroos,...now combine that with all the mounts on Fleet....OH MY GOD lol. You know you look around the zones inside buildings and on some of these planets for example while in Coruscant and you see many levels above your head with walkways and stuff,....it's like they have planned ahead for this sort of thing

I don't think it is entirely out of the question that they won't put in a force vertical jump at some point,...my guess is that they will but it will be a Cartel Perk possibly for $20 and available for every class

The OP probably played city of heroes like me and had the super jump which was awesome,..maybe the best travel power ever created in an mmo or any game. City of Heroes had a visible wall boundary that kept you from going any further similar to swtor and the exhaustion zones
