Hello all, whenever I try to run the SWTOR_setup.exe application it does some unpacking and then just vanishes.

I checked the log as instructed in that one helpful thread about troubleshooting which led me to the install log which says this:

Obviously I didn't touch anything about a language select during hte setup since it was on the screen for about 1/2 second.

Any ideas? I am running Win7 x64 Enterprise edition. As admin with Microsoft Security Essentials realtime scanning turned OFF.

I remember someone seeing this same problem (also on Win 7 x64 Enterprise edition, I believe). They ended up unpacking the launcher by hand and starting up the installer with command-line switches to force a language. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to grab that post before the old forums were wiped, and I don't thus recall what the command-line parameters were. But I can tell you that it's not completely unique to your machine.

The bright news is that you should be able to install the launcher on another machine and copy it over; your uninstall won't work unless the installer's run properly.

Thanks for the reply Packet. Hopefully someone knows that trick since I don't have any machines that aren't Win7 Enterprise.

I've been having the EXACT same issue since Friday. I ended up cancelling my preorder and game time until they get it sorted. It has to do with win7 x64 systems. Thinking it was the downloaded file, I purchased the hard copy today. No joy. I've tried it on both my boxes (identical asus g73s's), the only difference being that box A is regularly used and box B was just uncrated, never online, no virus possible.

EA/Bio/Lucas needs to be digging through those old forum posts to find this fix, because I know I'm not the only person having this issue. I've been jonesing for some star wars since NGE screwed up galaxies.
