Just like a Human who has a lisp, that's only a single Rodian. All other Rodians speak basic fluently and all the devs would need to do is transform the current dialogue to feature an echo.

The Rodian version of Jaden in Jedi Academy, whilst it's non-canon as Jaden was a Human, it shows the possibility of them becoming playable.

Height in the game isn't an issue, unless maybe if they're too tall. The camera automatically aligns with the player's height as well does the NPC's eyesight as shown a while back with the minature glitch, except in some cases when the camera is fixed:

Have to say the quote from Daniel Erickson is one of the things that really turned me off him and made me quite happy when he left. The entire speach really boils down to the view BW had for TOR. It was their game and you would play it there way and experiance their story. You would be heroic, hansom and human (near human). Then they backtracked and have Sith Pure blood Jedi, Twi'lek Sith Warriors and the whole rest of species that make no sence with the story but still no aliens.

I suspect that if they could add all the aliens people want at 0.00 cost and sell them for 25 bucks each on the Cartel market we would already have them in, it is purely profit why we have not seen them,

Personally, I find it distasteful to see so many people with the inability to get over physical differences - I'm sure in a reality wherein hundreds of thousands of species interact on a daily basis, people would be a little less hung up on outward appearances, particularly when they can be so minor.

That being said, I totally agree with such species as a Legacy unlock, with no option to bypass with the Cartel Shop until you've reached a certain level. Let the players get their most "iconic" virgin playthrough out of the way and then allow the variety to expand.

This rewards veteran players, those who have invested themselves in the game and their characters. Too much is available with a simple wave of a credit card.

And again, I'm not saying that there aren't obstacles to species implementation. I never want to hear alien babble. BioWare would lose all credibility with me if I ever saw playable Jawas or Wookiees. All I'm saying is that romance is not an obstacle. Animations, lore, voicing - these are all completely legitimate obstacles. Romance is not. As cited above.
Will have to disagree. You think humans would be willing to look at a Mon C and think "Yeah. Hawt!" I think they'd see them and go "Friend category!"

And you think Star Wars is different because all those species are everywhere? They're everywhere and still hated by the Empire.

A human in Star Wars looking at a Wookie and going "Oh yeah!" is no different than a person in the real world looking at a dog and going "Oh yeah!"

Sure it's out there. Its rare to such a degree it wouldn't make since to put it in the MMO and highly looked down upon.

Of course, this is just a game so real world rules on dating don't need to apply.

If you think about it, it's really up to the player if they want to romance that alien and then it's up to the companion / NPC to provide their consent. There could be some individuals who are affectionate towards Mon Calamari or Rodians and others who detest them. Like in real-life, no one person's interests or preferences are the same. The player's decisions and ideals on most occasions reflect your own.

I dunno the one big excuse I read was something along the lines of, "people don't want to hear alien talk all the time and it gets annoying," however if you play a Sith Sorcerer your very first companion speaks alien gibberish, pretty consistently. The difference between the two is that a player cannot avoid their first companion but they could choose to play a basic speaking main character.
Personally I think the decision has nothing to do with the alien speak, after all there are a whole lot of quests where you are listening to it, and its not as if a player could not choose to "spacebar" through the dialog if they so choose. Not to mention if someone made, say a jawa character, they already know they are not going to be speaking basic anyway, and apparently the player is prepared to listen to the way they do talk through 50-55 levels of character advancement.
Frankly I would love to see non basic speaking characters as an option...namely jawas but hey thats just me.

Well Jawas are supposably able to speak basic:

I agree if the species is unable to speak basic then I still wouldn't mind seeing it playable, provided basic isn't an option for them. Subtitles would be there to read and you're able to skip the cutscenes pressing the space bar. A small disclaimer could be provided when hovering over the selection telling the player that they're unable to speak basic and subtitles will be automatically on.

To put it in perspective, there have been more cross-species romances in Star Wars canon than same-sex romances.

If different species romances were really an issue they could just disable them very quickly and easily. However I suspect that only a tiny minority would even care that cross species romance was in, most people would not care one way or the other.

Plus is return of the jedi Jabba clearly wants to romance his Twi'lek dancer and only kills her when she rejects him. So if the most inhuman looking species I can think of can click the flirt option then why not a Wookie, a Mon'cal or a Rodian.

I just don't understand the huge emphasis people put about romance in this game. It's so utterly insignificant and impacts so little I just don't understand why people make such a big deal about it. There are so many better things the devs could spend time doing than worrying about a couple short dialouges.
