Digital expansion packs, its been done in single player games, quite successfully. They usually cost around the same price as the Maked expansion will. Lower price for a smaller content update.

You have to be subbed to play the expansion pak of any game. Digital download or not. Your logic there is non-existent. If you don't want to pay, then don't, simple. Please actually use some logic of your own, if you are going to accuse others of the same flaw you seem to have.

If you don't want to pre-order, don't. If you don't want the small expansion, don't get. If you feel you are being ripped off here, then stop spending your money here.

The solution is simple. YOU don't spend your money. Those of us who can afford it, will. If Bioware is making a profit from this, then they are doing the right thing as far as they are concerned. They're a business, not playground coordinaters.
Except by your own admission it isn't an expansion so calling it a digital expansion doesn't work, its DLC, get over it.

It is indeed an Adventure Pack, not an Expansion in the traditions sense of MMORPGs.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

These threads will continue until someone with authority within EAWare comes out and explains a) why they have changed their stance on Makeb and b) what will actually be in Makeb!

Until we get an official explanation that makes sense, and until we get full details of what is going to be in the Makeb "expansion" then people will complain. All we can do is speculate. Personally, I hate the direction Bioware has taken the game but Makeb, with it's level cap rise, is a chance for Bioware to reset their mistakes and start moving in a better direction. If they do this, then I expect I will stay with the game. If they dont then I'll be leaving. I know many many other people who feel the same.

OP is 100% right!

The Makeb content patch was meant to not be an expansion. So now we got the 'Digital Expansion Pack' called Rise of the Hutt Cartel.

Although no specifics have been announced that are clearly different yet, the thing here is actually very simple: What we are getting in Spring 2013 is not what was planned to be Makeb when it was announced to be a free content patch in June 2012. This has been announced by multiple sources recently. Both in Q&A's and interviews.

Things change, so do goals.

Point is: Nobobdy knows exactly yet what is in it and how much will be in it eventually. We only know what has been announced so far. So really, how can you claim a promise made has been broken if the delivery of the promised product hasn't even happened yet? Same goes for claiming it's just an adventure pack or whatever other claim is being done at this moment.
So, and I know this is a futile request, please just stop these statements that we don't know to be true yet as proof of how bad they are doing until you can actually make a truthful judgement on the actual delivered product.

So they said it themselves - this is NOT an expansion. Looks like bioware is just trying to see if we are willing to pay for a patch, as long as it has a fancy name attached to it. Looks like we are, but hey, people are paying $18 for recolored stuff on cm, so why not

And they you wonder why people don't trust bioware

inb4 ninjadelete and/or infraction
Is it a full expansion? No.

Does it represent value in terms of a DLC content update with a new planet and 5 new levels plus other game systems for £5-£6? Yes.

Is there a problem here? No.

Are you welcome? Yes, yes you are

This we already got, we have gotten two reasons already:
- Change to F2P was the first reason given to re-evaluate the possible pricing of Makeb.
- RotHC will have more in it than was originally planned for the Makeb content patch.

I agree we could use more info on what this 'more' is then, as right now we only have vague statements.
I disagree that people will shut up about it even if Bioware gives all this info. As these complaints about June's quote are not much above the level of trolling anyway. Anyone with the slightest bit of sense knows that statement (because it wasn't even a promise) was made as a boast to the game's 'subscription model', the same model that was thrown out the window.

PS. Also, good way of deliberately misquoting James Ohlen.

Exact words:
"It's basicly the biggest non-expansion pack piece of content that I think any online game has ever released at one time."
Not once did he specifically say what you claim he said as your thread title.

Only proves my earlier point even more specifically: Makeb, the planet, is the biggest non-expansion content ever.
Who says what else will be added to make it more than what was Makeb at the time of that statement? Do you? I don't yet. All I do know is that more will be announced, as has been said. And one of those things is 'new systems', something that was not mentioned AT ALL around Makeb in June 2012. So these 'new systems', whatever they are, will be one of the things that should bring it from a big patch to a small expansion.
