The Female Gamer - Are you guys not over this yet?

While I realize that some people are simply overly polite, I'd imagine that male characters thanking you for coming to their aid in PVP at a node are mostly female players.

TBH quite often if i join a guild which has a player as described i will go out of my way to make him try and get with me just for the heck of it... you know the whole always using smileys ect (what younguns seem to expect females to do never understood it myself) and then eventually i will go on skype or ts or something and be like yea man im a dude, you've just done all sorts of **** for me in game and now you found out im a dude how does that make you feel...
They soon learn there lesson :L

I have one girl in my guild and if she's on TS we cant give out the TS info to a PUG player bc of this.

But really stop making forums like this. FFs ppl are picked on every damn day. Ppl are getting picked on because of their gender, color of their skin, sexuality, appareance whatever.
That doesn't mean we need to make a *********** thread about every time it happens. Its a *********** game, ppl are trolling and doing things they wouldn't normally do.

If you OP are so offended about it then I'm sorry but you are a very sad person. You better start toughen up because the world we live in preys on those who show weakness; in this case weakness by getting antsy in the pants because some 13 year old boy wants to date you in a game.

Threads like this is *********** pathethic. Ye its really SAAAAAAD that you who were born into a life of non poverty, of non abuse, of non living on the street gets "harassed" by innocent teenager on the net.

Sory for all the ****'s but posts like this pisses me off on so many levels and they are such a testament to have spoiled kids who were raised in the rich part of the world don't give a **** about ppl who actually have it really really bad.

Human males are biologically wired to lust after women. And the OP wants a person who might be an adult to ignore one of their most profound emotions due to the possibility it would bother someone online... when it should be more probable that it is the other way round when done right, that it is flattering to be wanted by the opposite gender.

If it is harassment, then that is something else, but someone acting friendly, or excited that there is a female player does not sound strange, nor should it get 'old'. Maybe some people dont like the human race, and their biological tendencies because this situation seems one in the same... and if they are human then this attraction will happen.

I think to be fair as someone that's been playing only mmo's for 13 years, the male gaming community has matured when it comes to female gamers. Are you still going to have guys who act stupid when they run into a girl gamer sure, but these are the same guys who act stupid with girls in bars also. Only difference is from time to time they hit on the really drunk girl and then she regrets it the next day.

I know people like to say girls are Drama starters and queens in games, now I have run across a few attention (working girl). Or the girl who thinks she is awesome because she is Edating a guy in a top raiding guild, even though she has never set foot in a raid.

But the only Drama Queens I have ever come across in 13 years of playing mmo's have all been GUYS, and they tend to be 25-35 years old.

Myself I enjoy playing with girl gamers, they can bring different points of view into games. I have even been in vents with girls out numbering the guys, but I'm there to play a game. I could careless what your cup size is, I'm here for a raid or whatever.

If you are looking for a girl, well you can see them all over the place just leave the house and go any place.

I'm not sure that's weakness at all. You've also got a pretty bleak world view. How old are you?

My grandmother plays video games and has since the NES cam out. I'm not phased by anything and I think making a post on this topic is silly. We don't care that you are a girl playing video games surrounded by men. Would I go make a post if I were in a ballet class and wondered if you girls were "over it" yet that men also do ballet?. No.

I'd question what your motive was for starting your post with a statement that marginalizes our existence in the gaming community. Women DO play, and your statement doe nothing more than exasperate the problem. The more you try to shut us up and/or mock us, the louder and more vocal we become. Don't believe me? Try this line on your wife/girlfriend: "Sir, you're a whiny brat who takes everything he has fore granted. Rather than tell me about the bad day you had, why don't you just keep it to yourself and do something positive like solve world peace, feed all the hungry people of the world, and remedy all the other social ills that plague modern society... I don't want to hear it... oh yeah, I'm hungry, go make me a sammich" (After you replace the computer she destroys in rage, please let us know how things unfolded)

Does anyone deny that men and women communicate differently? If you acknowledge that we communicate differently, then what makes you think that the "guy solution" is going to sway us? What does attacking her for voicing her opinion solve? My husband had the "solution" for many things, but it doesn't mean that I agreed or accepted them. Many times I simply shook my head, acknowledged to myself that sometimes he can be an idiot, and I moved on.

That the problem has improved over the years doesn't mean that it's no longer a problem, nor does it mean that one shouldn't have the freedom to post their thoughts in this forum. Why have forums if not to post thoughts? Most guys will never understand many of the complexities women face both in and out of game. The OP has every right to voice her thoughts, and attacking her for it just shows the intolerance of the many thread respondents.
