In 1.7 I get to look like Tron. When do I get my Lightcycle?

So only Tron can have flashy lights now? Guess you've never played Halo Reach as the covenant architecture/lighting looked that way as well. Tron wasn't the first to come up with that too.

it's just recoloured vendetta armour (with a different helmet), imp agent only armour at the moment.
It's already in the game, it just doesn't glow like that. (which i actually like so meh)

The first tron movie came out in the 80's. Thought they were the first with glowy suits. What other movie or games used them kinda suits? I want to see it, you peaked my curiosity.
We didn't start the Star Wars,They were already fightin' em,since George was writing them!!

when they did this stuff in SWG it drove me crazy.

Raver glow sticks for entertainers, with accompanying raver dance moves.
Cupid Ewoks
halos and devil horns
candy corn lightsabers

just plain stupid.

Well, I would actually like to see some Ewoks, no idea why some people hate them. Though "cupid" Ewoks is a bit much for me as well.

The point is that it's being argued that the user doesn't like the idea that there's people wearing outfits he feels breaks the immersion of the Star Wars universe. Right... because seeing dozens of Vette's following "Darth [Offensive Name]" or "Darth Steve Jobs" doesn't break immersion, right? Because 8 people taking on a giant robot and the person that's taking damage is wearing a slave outfit that is amazingly modified to work just as well as full armor? Because someone blocking a light saber with a regular old Axe... yeah... none of that breaks immersion from the world of Star Wars... does it?

In the end, it's a silly argument that this outfit clearly breaks immersion when so many things in this game already do. Since this game is licensed to develop story I would say they have more legitimacy in saying what is now considered Star Wars canon then you, wouldn't you say?
No. They don't. Leland Chee does. And I'd like to get his opinion on it. As for all the other things, I turn nameplates off. As for an axe, all it needs is to be made of phrik to repel lightsaber blades. Considering the high amount of lightsabers in the galaxy, that might be prudent. We see phrik vibroblades blocking lightsabers in KOTOR I & II. The staves the IG-100 Magnaguard use phrik to parry Anakin's and Obi-wan's lightsabers. So it's not immersion breaking at all.

I'm more concerned with consisency across the brand than immersion. I don't know where you jumped to this conclusion. As for Leia, you asked for one example where it happened in universe. I provided it. You want to salvage your position by saying "forced to wear."

As for the rest, OrionSol has some examples:

But he also forgot the angel and bat wings that were also availible.

I also like how anything with highlights is also a copy of TRON.
There were aspects of SWG that were better than what is found here, but that didn't make the game "Perfection." The sentiment was that certain aspects of SWG should have been folded into this game. SWG being perfect? Far from it.

Before Tron (1982), there were no examples of glowing, highlighted clothing. Once that happened we had "Automan" (failed TV show featuring Desi Arnaz Jr and Chuck Wagner), Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, and all sorts of glowies found in raves and clubs across the globe. So Tron being a pioneer of the vision, gets the credit for the concept.

Instead of adding they could have just pulled from established lore. I would take Dathomir or Yavin over Makeb.

Where are the dirty cantinas and the duct taped (piece of junk) starships?
Good point. The Star Wars universe was supposed to have that "lived in" feel. The further this game advances, the further away from the Star Wars universe it gets. While cool, it's not Star Wars. Introducing new things doesn't mean it needs to be shiny.

The write up on Wookieepedia sees Gree in a different light, given the information availible. While they still describe the tech as "the oldest Gree technology in existence was remarkably advanced with their high technology on a level far beyond the Imperial equivalent", but still ancient. Their contemporaries, the Rakata, have ancient looking tech, even though it is beyond the capabilites of the time. The tech of the Rakata calls to mind some mix of Meso-American and Assyrian architecture. Why they went with Tron for the Gree, baffles me.

What's next? Dragon Age armor?
It's amazing how loud a dollar can be.

Tron was kind of cool.

Those octopus aliens came straight from a off the wall movie called "Galaxy Quest".
I was watching it a little while ago on TV.

I don't think the octopus design of the Gree come from this movie in particular. It seems to be pretty common to see aliens looking like octopus things (I don't count the number of mangas and animes where random aliens are drawn as walking octopussies)

As to the subject at hand i don't mind the look of the new armor in the recent screenies at all. On another forum someone shouted at me for saying the gree are obviously fans of tron and Disneys influence is shinning through. They accused me of being anti-disney and in fact I'm happy they bought SW as we will get more movies now.
