Hating this game because the fans hyped it up so much is kind of.....stupid.

I guess EA's CEO must moonlight at some of those fansites.

Some of us have been here since the beginning. We know what the ride has been like (for instance, how many of you can remember the issue in my sig?).

"We're going right at it. We want share, we want leadership position here," affirmed Riccitiello. "I'm not expecting to sort of knock them over, but ... we're gonna get a big chunk of [their market]."

If you or anyone else is interpreting this as being a wow killer.. then I don't know what to tell you.
Who says they didn't get a big chunk of their market? Define big chunk? It's all a matter of opinion as to what a big chunk is really.
I've been here since beta a year before release, where all you could play was a Jedi and max level of 10.

I'm confused as to how you think you get a leadership position if not by knocking over the leader. Do you think EA expected WoW to simply step aside? No, the CEO is saying they're gunning for WoW. I know it's the internet and therefore you're functionally unable to admit error, but for the rest of us it's a pretty easy logical deduction.

3. Do not be mistaken and take the (vocal) majority in game forums as the majority of the player of said game. This goes for any game, not just SWTOR. Peole who are happy with the game usually usually simple play instead of writing comments.
This is more to the tune of what goes on. Especially the bold and red part. Can you imagine if the usual constantly-disgruntled people here put as much supposed passion that they put forth into righting this game's wrongs and instead put it into righting their governments? This world might be a better place!

That said, they probably do not even care that much. It is the internet. Some folks just want the attention.

This is the problem, you're taking their quote way too literally, and this is why people get so rabid towards developers.

Well, if we look through the raids, just to point at the recent:

EC:
Zorn & Toth - bashing 2 bosses
Firebrand & Stormcaller - bashing 2 bosses
Colonel Vorgath - bashing droids, assassins and the colonel + turrets
Kephess - Bashing droids, bombers, packs, big droig, 2 droids, kephess

TFB:
The Writhing Horror - bashing the writhing horror, bashing jealous males, nuking packs
Ciphas, Heirad & Kel'Sara - bashing 3 characters
Operator IX - bashing datacores, packs of droids and a big droid
Kephess the Undying - bashing Kephess
Terror from Beyond - bashing tentacles, bashing spheres, bashing the primary body

Out of all those, Kephess truly is the only thing which is singly getting bashed. The rest.... fell exactly in my line of expectation when they mentioned you wouldnt be bashing a single boss.

I'm not sure what you're expectations were, however, it's not been BioWare which placed those expectations there. It's simply a matter of you having had a vastly different interpretation of what was being stated.

And yes, all of that is different than numerous other games. However, there are also numerous similar titles. People just really ought to keep themselves from getting overhyped during MMO development stages. MMO's have been around for well over a decade, yet during every MMO development stage it feels as if many people on the pre-launch communities are completely new to the genre.

Just currently take a look to any random ESO community to start seeing the same fiasco happen all over again.

No, the problem is that even when confronted by incontrovertible evidence, you're unable to admit you're wrong. And there are enough fanbois in the forum defense force to present the illusion of perfect contentment.

We saw this happen with SWG. Devs are able to point to a few posts saying people "love" the CU or NGE, and it insulates them in their dev fantasy world.

Quote:
Riccitiello also commented that the acting and dialogue in The Old Republic will make WoW look like a "silent movie" by comparison.

"In a way, theirs is a silent movie and ours is the first talkie," he said. "By and large, theirs is not a voiced MMO. Ours is a fully voiced MMO in multiple languages."
Do you know enough to realize what happened to silent movies? Can you read between the lines here, or is the metaphor too obtuse? If you're saying your product is like movies with sound, and your competitor is silent, what do you think the implication is as to their future prospects?

How much more of this is going to be necessary before you admit your simple error? Or will you just slink away on to another thread instead?

But here are some off the top of my head:

Lack of bug fixes

Lack of communication from community representatives/developers.

Lack of bug fixes

Space shooter on rails

Lack of bug fixes

Lack of chat bubbles

Lack of bug fixes

Lack of Open World PVP

Lack of bug fixes

Lack of a continuation of Class Stories in the lolexpansion DLC that should be a free content update to subscribers

Lack of bug fixes
You forgot to add Lack of bug fixes.

I'm confused by why you seem to believe that a quote where the guy says he does NOT expect SWTOR to knock WOW over proves that EA claimed SWTOR would knock WOW over.

Do you not comprehend the meaning of the word "not"? Or, this being the internet, are you just functionally incapable of admitting error?

Maybe because he then goes on to compare WoW to silent movies? Did the success of The Artist confuse you in to thinking they beat talkies? English is a hard language, I know, but some things should really be within the grasp of even basic literacy.

Also, assuming the following:

1) WoW is the leader
2) SWTOR intends to be the leader

How do you see this happening in some way that doesn't result in SWTOR overtaking WoW? Pixie dust? New math? Zombie Apocalypse?
