In 1.7 I get to look like Tron. When do I get my Lightcycle?

So I noticed the pitch black armor with red lights and the white armor with blue lights and thought of all the Darth Rinzlers, CLUs, Flynns, Trons, and Quorras I'm going to see. Seems SWTOR is going the way of SWG, introducing things that just don't belong in the Star Wars universe. At lest SWG introduced items that wouldn't be availible for 150 yrs in that timeline. That was at least IN the Star Wars universe, just not at that time.

I hope this isn't a sign of bad things to come. I'm a fan of Tron and I love the whole idea of a Tron game, but if I want a Tron game, or even MMO, I'll wait for one to be developed. (Tron: Evolution was... meh.) I sensed that things were kind of Tron like with the Terror from Beyond, but this is really just in your face.

Mixing and mashing genres is not a way to keep people, or even win new people. We like those things for what they are, but we only really like them WITHIN their respective genres. Taking cool things from other IPs will eventually cause things to collapse. Work on your strengths not your weaknesses. I know it sounds counter-intuiitve, but taking focus away from what you do best is a sure way to spread yourselves too thin.

Taking some queues from other posts, we want Star Wars to BE Star Wars. We want our Jedi to look like Jedi (not the Queen of Naboo). We want our lightsaber battles to look and feel like lightsaber battles (saber lock?). We want our characters to use the gear we want to use, given the situation (Obi-wan used a blaster to kill Grievous. Kao Cen Darach dual wielded a lightsaber and double-lightsaber).

All these little things make up the Star Wars universe. It's the look and the feel of it that fires the imagination. People dog the sci-fi purists, but it's those same purists that keep the focus of an IP. Star Trek (I know - HERETIC!) could have easily delved too much into the holodeck and wrote nothing more than holonovels featuring the same crew in different roles. They could have done entire seasons in the Mirror Universe. They didn't put ghosts and wizards in the Underworld series to jump on the Harry Potter bandwagon. The Matrix could have easily followed down the Tron rabbit hole and would have been diminished by it. Aliens could have delved into other races like a darker, grittier Star Wars and also been made worse for the experience.

But they didn't, and that is what makes them memorable.

P.S. I know the SW IP is a Disney property now, so go ahead and jump on that guys, I know you wanna.
It's amazing how loud a dollar can be.

Never been to Asation? Whether it is a nod to Tron or not, that "glowy" armor is perfectly fitting.

I'm fairly certain that something close to the lightcycle will be added to the game sooner or later

Yea, that's what I meant. Thanks for pointing it out.

There is already a Tron look in the game. Cartel market...black gear with bright yellow "lights".

As for me Asation make me think to Mass Effect 3's Geth consensus. (By the way, the armor on pic has some similarities with 1.7's pic too)

They said they're moving away from crazy looks... There are so many different items which could be rewards from the gree events. Why nasty recolours?

You see Tron.

I see Faiz and Psyga.

I prefer my reality.
