And now I understand here, what you're meaning by genderless.. yes, I just want to be treated as a person. But the person I tend to be treated as is labeled (either explicitly or simply implied as) 'male', and that is what gets annoying, which is when I tend to bring up 'hey, not EVERYONE online is male, ok? thanks.'
Well as i said the best thing is just to not care, if they callme gal.. okay .. im gal.. if they call me guy .. okay im guy..

if they ask for gender .. i say im not even human...lol

wow...bout as sad as the whole thing with women in the military.

Frankly i don't care what parts you got. do the job, play the game, have fun. Hell i got hit on because i was playing my female chiss operative. guy went about postal because i said i was a guy.

Yes i play fem characters, kinda get sick of watching the backside of a guy, nice to see something else.

There's just a lot of guys out there, lonely, with no control over their own hormones or feelings, who think drooling and making off-hand sexual jokes is a form of romance.

They deserve to be put on your ignore list.

I've had a similiar problem in the past, because I am married, most girls who I've played with online see me as no threat, so they prefer to hang out with me or group with me, as I don't hit on them.

Then they want a RP romance between our characters.

So, while they don't hit on me, they'll certainly hit on my characters.

At least the way women hit on guys is much more mature and pleasant than, "Yur a chick!? ZOMG!!! Are you hawt? LETS ERP!!!"

When I started SWTOR I followed the same thing, old habits die hard I guess, and I created a male Trooper. However, once I joined my guild and started using voice chat with them, it was obvious I was female. Everyone in my guild has been cool and we have a couple of other girls in the guild as well.

We run a teamspeak server and recently put our photos as avatars for fun.

I also haven't seen anything like this in a while, nor heard of it, and figured it was a dying thing with mmos where guys have finally realised that "yeah, girls play too." But apparently not.
Same reason why a lot of female gamers feel the need to use emoticons every other sentence. Some guys just like flirting with females all the time.

Quite frankly I'm tired of the amount of sexism floating around the gaming world atm, which the OP was apparently oblivious to.

Maybe I'm cold or being too mean toward the issue, but I tend to feel this way towards those who don't define themselves as gamers, but being The Female Gamer, with capital letters. Ugh.
I don't think it's fair to assume that just because a woman "let's slip" that she is female (if that's how you want to put it) is deliberately doing it for attention. It is simply a fact and since most players will refer to others as "him" by default, they will be corrected if a woman finds it odd being referred to as a "he". Beyond that gender shouldn't need to be discussed, but I'm sure there are some that do it for the attention and self-entitlement. I hope this hasn't negatively affected your view of gamers who also happen to be female or women in general. It is unfortunate that things have gotten this way.

I'm on Vent. I don't announce myself as female. But that makes no difference to the rabid weasel set. The minute I ask a question or make a suggestion, it's very obvious that I am no man; I have a female voice. Yes, it shouldn't matter what my gender is, I should be treated as a Tank/Healer/DPS like the rest of the group.

Your opinion, stated above, however is that simply by speaking while female, I have to expect to be treated badly; how in hell is that supposed to be "seeing someone as genderless," genius? Also, screw that. I have a perfect right to talk and not be harrassed for it.

This isn't about stepping up and saying "Hi! Girl in the room!!" It's about people being douchenozzles the minute they hear a female voice.

Glad to see more females coming out who enjoy gaming. I will now Share some wisdom with you from a males point of view.

For the most part men are by nature are constantly looking for a female to mate with. simple logic as a species we seek the opposite sex to complete us both mentally and physically and provide companionship.

Another fact and truth regardless of the age or maturity level, men spend a great deal of time thinking about sex, even married men do. it's in our nature and sadly we haven't been emasculated by society enough to be persuaded to stop yet.

Men/boys will be nice to girl gamers, but our fascination with the female species is like an addiction to a drug. we always seek your attention admiration and praise. if it seems you have no concern to do that then the male ego almost automatically goes into ego protection mode, which ends with you being called some pretty harsh names, and having those same pictures you let foolishly slip out be used to covet a bruised ego from rejection.

The hard fact that the majority of males play videos games, points to the obvious conclusion that it's a male dominated genre, and any female who expects to enter better be prepared to protect herself. your first mistake was putting up a picture of yourself.

you might as well un-sub now to be brutally honest with you. you have now sent the message that it might be possible to date you, which if any male in your guild finds you attractive, you have already been targeted for the never ending war for a females hopes and affections and attentions. i wish you luck at life and logic.

May the force be with you.

I love having more women in the gaming scene, I love to "perv" and make inappropriate jokes towards them. Im not an actual perv but I just enjoy it just like I enjoy having a verbal rummage with my male guildies

Whilst being a girl has no difference on your ability to play, the sad thing is that a portion of the community has never even touched a girl and thats not meant as an insult. The ones who whisper women (Ive had a few even though Im guy... guess the chick names just rub off on other..get it? ) either have no clue how to approach women or dont give a ****. I think the first is the more likely one and if I see someone do it I correct them as well as I can.
Also a lot of guys have this fleeting hope theyll meet the love of their lives on the internet and whilst you can have successes it usually doesnt work.

So guys (who do this), if you want to communicate with a girl dont /whisper Name hehe ur funny, how r u? but rather learn how to engage them in a general conversation. Talk over the course of a few days and learn to respect them as what they are: fellow human beings of the opposite sex. This will even lead you into the capability to use this in real life and get a real life girlfriend

Wow... I was reading this and at the start I was like "yea.. mhm.. I can agree" and then BAM! it turned bad.
I know of no guys in my guild who are "nice to the girls" since we abuse eachother verbally day in day out, make sexist jokes etcetc regardless of gender
Do we always seek female attention and praise? ***? If any guy has a "bruised ego" and abuses another person it means the guy is a douche, its not because hes a guy. If he cant take rejection he needs to "harden the **** up"

So what if a majority of the gaming scene is male? Who says the demograph cant be equal or hell, even switch! No woman should HAVE to protect herself from little boys who want attention and think girl=cyber.

Really? She should unsub because some guy thinks shes date material? Kinda sad of that guy... he should un-sub since he would be less of a loss.
As long as a woman doesnt give the attention some schmuck wants then he will eventually lose interest. Guys are like little kids with toys, we can very fast lose interest in stuff

What a surprise. Another , "oh look I'm a female thread" has dozens of white knights coming to the rescue. She shouldn't have even made thread in the first place if she wanted to prove her point.
