Understanding that Illum is NOT a PVP planet and hasnt been since launch... understanding that the majority of Illum is PVE dailies not PVP .... understanding that the game is majority PVE and not PVP .. understanding there are more PVE servers then PVP ...understanding and being logical..... i guess its asking alot for people to understand the truths of this game.

it directly makes a comment about "Those who are brave enough will get the chance to [B][I][U]help the Gree and face off against a powerful foe waiting in the heart of the Gree vessel" which is a PVE reference .. to a boss.

No where in that entire statement does it say anything about contested anything ... and since there stance has always been to never force pvp on anyone... an event which holds an item they have been promising for months to PVEers (legacy lightsaber) would be a BIG mistake to make it PVP centric.

they also said that they would be reworking illum because PVP has never worked there and was always used for nothing more then kill trading before they illiminated it.
Ilum is a contested planet. It was made for PvP. The system they set-up didn't work. This is at least an attempt to see what can be done about it.

I'll keep saying it until someone addresses it: The tokens for these events have always been tradeable. Buy some from someone and get what items you want. You can sit on the Fleet and complain about it while the PvPer's make a fortune selling them.

Sure is hysterical in here...

Sounds like some localized objective-based PVP, like old Ilum had but better. That'd be great, it's needed.

If it's something else, big deal. Maybe that's easy for me to say though, since I enjoy PVP and PVE and want to see more of both.

You may resume cheerleading and slinging poo.

You get that toned down, relaxed attitude out of here! this is the internet after all. So pick a side and grab your poo bucket/pom poms.

You keep saying "PvP rewards"...what specifically do you mean? There is PvP and PvE armor, I'll agree there, but everything else is 100% up for grabs, be it mats, items, pets, vehicles...it's how you acquire them that differentiates them. If a speeder is only available by doing X number of PvE quests inside a PvP zone, it will be a PvP reward.

Sorry, lost my mind for a minute. Trying again...

Stop forcing us to PVP (or PVE) to play this new content! If I land on Ilum I will lose control of my hands and they will control the mouse and keyboard against my will! Wut?! They haven't given us enough information to form any complaints about it yet?

WAKE UP! They've favored the whiny PVE (or PVP) players since Beta! Everyone knows what a bunch of dumb whiners PVP (or PVE) players are and BW caters to them! I'm speculatively raging until a dev comes in here with trays of cocoa with little marshmallows in it and posts a lot of yellow to placate us PVE (or PVP) players!

PVPers wont make a fortune selling them .. cause there will be a way to get them from PVE .. you can bet your starship on it.

This may also sounds big headed, but I know that if I go, many of my guild will also follow. With all large endgame guilds there are usually just a few people holding it all together for the benefit of everyone else. In my guild, im one of those people. Myself and many others have been hoping for world pvp for a long time and now that we've reached a point where we've "completed" the game (endgame cleared and farmed, min-maxed pvp and pve gear, alts leveled etc) the lack of world pvp is becoming even more glaring.

So, im concerned about 1.7 too, but for the opposite reasons to the OP.
Months ago they said the game engine couldn't handle a large number of people in the same area. Of course they didn't give the exact number but I took it to mean WPVP is not going to happen the way you might have imagined and thats if and only if the new Ilum is pushing for a form of WPVP.

I think it's more likely you will not get what you're hoping for.

How do you guys think this'll be implemented?

Ilum 1.0 battles were a slideshow and as far as we know the engine hasn't changed. A bunch of shared instances for the new?

Not knowing how many players can be in an area before the engine really starts to tank makes it hard to come up with ideas.

But lets go with what little we know. Each instances seems to hold about 65 people now before a new one spawns. so Lets assume they can get a minimum of 20 Rep and Emp players to an area and fight for it. The entire area is PVP for that time. Any additional people landing there are flagged PVP to the max population of the instance (around 65 - 70 people total)

Once the area is won. It converts to a PVE zone (all PVP flagging is suspended) and PVE questing NPC's and venders pop up along with the entrance to the Ilum Gree ship.

Then you have so many hours or a day to complete questing in that area before it drops back to a PVP zone to start all over again.

It's similar to another concept in another MMO but it might work on a smaller scale for this game. I have no idea how this would work with instances or if it's even possible but it was brought up in a couple other threads.
