Maybe it would be best to enjoy the game. If the content is too difficult for you maybe you shouldnt do it? PvP geared players dont get to kill Raid bosses on the hardest difficulty either. Stop assuming your group is the only one entitled to have acess to the whole content.

Its a bit of PvP, that might or might not happen. Stop beeing afraid of it, its actually fun and memorable on world PvP.

This reminds me about the QQ that one of HK's parts was in the tatooine open world pvp area. Turns out nothing happened. Go figure...
This is true but the major difference is PVP players will work together to slaughter PVE players while PVE players are likely to be soloing event objectives and will easily get slaughtered. I still dont think its an issue ... cause they really cant afford for people to hate events in this game when they sold us on the idea that we will never be forced to PVP and meanwhile we are even out of events many people feel forced to pvp to get there pve gear faster and the relics are still better then most of the relics you can get of course pending on class.

We will see how they handle it ... all i care about is doing it long enough to get two or three legacy lightsabers .... if the event is PVP heavy then i will get one or two lightsabers and never go back .... that would be a big waste for them to have people really enjoy it for one or two days then never show up again ... seems like it would be a big waste of development dollars to force PVE heavy MMOers to PVP.

SWG had a flawed combat system with classes so far out of balance that more people had left the game before JTL let alone NGE then still played it at that point. SWTOR has always maintained at 500k player base which is stronger then almost any mmo that has gone free to play after launching as a paid sub only game. SWG was so bad they closed it rather then let people play F2P.

So please enough with the failed Star wars vs the successful and growing star wars MMO comparisons please.

that being said ... if anyone doesnt know that the majority of players DONT PVP in this game ... they they really dont pay attention at all to what is said in general and prolly dont pug or use any chat system or belong to any guild of a decent size. 438 characters in our guild ... we have 5 people who pvp and 4 of the 5 are only doing it for PVE gear cause its easier to get your dread guard gear (yes dread guard not elite war hero) through PVP then it is through PVE raiding.
LOL, please. You know not of what you speak. There was tons more to do in swg than this game will ever have. The game didn't shut down from a lack of subs either, and tor will be be very lucky to last the 8 years that swg did.

I'm not afraid of PVP. I am afraid of 16 man groups of Elite War Hero geared psychopaths instituting surprise buttsecks on my guild while we try to beat a boss. I've gone to PVP in a dread guard geared 50, against someone with 30% damage output and reduction, its whole sale slaughter.

I'm actually a fan of open world PVP when it's everyone is pretty much on the same page. Whatever the content is, you should be allowed to be geared to do it. If I get mauled in PVP wearing PVE gear, it's my bad for going in there. Same thing with PVP geared guys and nightmare mode raid bosses. When you mix the two, someone is getting the shaft.
I'd like to sit down with the guy responsible for having Busta Rhymes fight Michael Myers in HALLOWEEN RESURRECTION. Then, before he could speak, I would slap him so hard his face would explode and his dog would die." - Jim Law

SWG was a failed game? I fail to see that you have made your point. I played the game till about 1 year before they shut it down and I only left because I was spending any free time for gaming raiding in EQ2. It's funny that you think a failed game is one that lasts almost a decade and lasted through the release of how many other MMO's? Point is I love this game and don't care if I have to go through a pvp area for a pve quest. You also haven't got a clue on how to make a comparison. I took from something that has already happened in an mmo to show that it can and will work. Also everyone gets recruit gear so yes you have stats for pvp unless you decided not to get it in which shame on you.

What you're saying is I don't need to play the game as intended just the way I want or I will complain and complain.
PVP player having to do story for companion is totally different than PVE player having to PVP for anything. Companions are part of the story, not part of PVP (directly). If I'm a PVE player, who rolled on a PVE server, I should never have to PVP for anything that is story or PVE related. If I choose to PVP for PVP gear, then that's on me.

What objectives? Again, what do you PvE only mongers know that us common folk don't? Why all the whining before any details have been released?! Or have I missed something??

Ilum had better be a PvP update - anything less will be a disaster. PvE missions in a PvP zone, aren't intended for every player. If you're the type of player that doesn't want to participate, then don't.

Thoughts?
If they don't like to PVP then what are they doing on a PVP planet?

No. You're 100% wrong on the highlighted part. You SHOULD be required to PvP for ANY PvP reward. It's that simple. Just because you PvE only, doesn't mean you're entitled to skip 1/4 of the game. PvP exclusives are perfectly fine. There are tons of activity specific exclusives as it is.

I don't do space...should I be given all the space rewards? I want the orange pilot gear, but I refuse to do space. If you want a PvP reward, PvP for it - fluff items, vanity items, pets, vehicles...ALL are fair game to be PvP exclusives.

Wanting something =/= deserving something.

Is PVP really that horrible? Im not a PVP'er but I dont think I would shy away from it if there was content to it. Is it the grind for PVP gear that acts as a major deterrent?

Oh dear god, you mean to tell me there might be some quests to do that have a PvP element? Oh no!!!

Seriously, I PvP and PvE but but for dedicated PvPer's they have 2 quests, one daily and one weekly, to get rewards from. That's it. How many dailies and weeklies are there that are totally PvE centered? Every other quest in the game actually. Literally. All there is for PvPer's is the pre-50 daily, the Outlaw Sands one, and the 50 weekly/daily.

It'll be nice to be able to do some quests in between queues that have PvP involved. You might not get WZ comms or anything but at least you can PvP while getting some cosmetic rewards (from the Update page: exclusive Gree technology, including highly advanced weapon and armor appearances!).

Also just a pet peeve of mine, no one is forcing you to do anything. Everyone says that on these forums. "A totally optional quest in a PvP area!. OMG BW don't force me to PvP/get in a group etc.!" Chill out guys.

If anything the currency they create to buy these items will probably be tradeable, like it has been in the past. Just buy it off all those low life PvP gankersand you'll never have to set foot on Ilum. Lord knows there is enough PvE quests for you to do to earn the creds.
