Sticking objectives or rewards in areas of the game explicitly designed for people who are specced fully into PvE or PvP and expecting people who aren't specced to be able to complete them is not cohesion, please invest in a dictionary.

Yes it is it forces people to deal with it and either gear up or get friends/a guild. That brings more of the game together as it forces players to participate in other activities. Don't like it? then don't do it, it's not a mandatory objective, it's purely optional, players should not be able to get everything they want doing only what they want.

I'm sorry but did Star Wars fans not play SWG where you had to go get a lightsaber hilt for a quest from a contested mob in a pvp zone? I find it rather enjoyable. Pvp'er have to quest through the story line to access their companions. Why not make a pve'r do pvp for a quest? What you're saying is I don't need to play the game as intended just the way I want or I will complain and complain.

BW said a while ago they were redoing Ilum to help with pvp again. How is the announcement that an event is happening to open Ilum back up not supposed to be pvp? They made it clear Ilum was going to be a pvp content patch. They've said they would have pve and pvp content patches.... this is a pvp one. I'm excited to see what it brings.

I want full dreadguard gear but I don't want to raid. Give me it all for killing a strong mob over and over.....

I can't agree with you more. If you don't want to do it you don't get it plain and simple

Thoughts?
I think this is a major assumption .... Illum is a big planet there are many places that most players dont even venture and lots of contested areas that are not forced PVP (which from past events is exactly where they like to shove players so that PVP servers become active). THAT BEING SAID ... Bioware seems to believe that everyone likes PVP in this game ... rather then does PVP because its the easiest way to get PVE gear (no i dont mean wearing PVP gear into raids .... that annoys me). The utter lack of PVE focus in this game has been its achillies heel since launch really.

I seriously doubt they will force anyone to PVP BUT like the rackgoul conflict i wouldnt doubt that they have a single objective or two that require you to either pass through or pass dangerously close to PVP contested areas.

Also its on illum which generally means LVL 47-50 only survive ... something they said they didnt want to do for events .. they stated back around rackgoul conflict that they wanted to keep events available to the lvl 30 plus crowd so that new players who have achieved that level of success would be able to enjoy events as well .. and lower level players could team up with friends and still beable to reap the rewards.

That is where i worry ...... are people who only have lvl 30s going to be able to enjoy this new event or is it going to be lvl 47+ only like the planet suggests.

Alternatively its entirely possible that they are going to make a new area that will also introduce a new dailies chain like section x and black hole. Not as likely but not entirely unbelievable.

"slaughter of PvE players" is overeacting. PvP is also about numbers. Number of PvE players > number of PvP players.

Maybe it would be best to enjoy the game. If the content is too difficult for you maybe you shouldnt do it? PvP geared players dont get to kill Raid bosses on the hardest difficulty either. Stop assuming your group is the only one entitled to have acess to the whole content.

Its a bit of PvP, that might or might not happen. Stop beeing afraid of it, its actually fun and memorable on world PvP.

This reminds me about the QQ that one of HK's parts was in the tatooine open world pvp area. Turns out nothing happened. Go figure...

I don't think I read or heard about one person who wanted that component not being able to get it on their first try.

There was no pvp stat either, and even pve'ers had buff items. Not to mention, there were always people of your faction around to keep gankers off of you.

the difference between SWG and SWTOR is SWG sucked .. and SWTOR doesnt. SWG has great crafting which was great if you had a big guild and knew people who crafted all the things you wanted cause it was impossible to raise the funds to buy any of it ... swtor has easy to get matts and well known crafters that everyone goes to for craftables. SWG had a flawed combat system with classes so far out of balance that more people had left the game before JTL let alone NGE then still played it at that point. SWTOR has always maintained at 500k player base which is stronger then almost any mmo that has gone free to play after launching as a paid sub only game. SWG was so bad they closed it rather then let people play F2P.

So please enough with the failed Star wars vs the successful and growing star wars MMO comparisons please.

that being said ... if anyone doesnt know that the majority of players DONT PVP in this game ... they they really dont pay attention at all to what is said in general and prolly dont pug or use any chat system or belong to any guild of a decent size. 438 characters in our guild ... we have 5 people who pvp and 4 of the 5 are only doing it for PVE gear cause its easier to get your dread guard gear (yes dread guard not elite war hero) through PVP then it is through PVE raiding.
