Isnt this the first love Illum has gotten in a long time? They added more Ops, more flashpoints and more WZ's but the open world PvP has been pretty stagnant. Whats wrong with adding to it just like every other aspect has been added to.

Pretty simple really."

So so so, you have to do it in a PvP zone. So is PvP gear, and why are you crying to have it for PvE???

Can i have the dread guard for PvP? No, so there are no point to you. Cya

Are you mental? The reason I ask is cause you can't seem to read or understand the basis of the entire argument here.

No one is asking for cross over gear from PVP or PVE or free items or whatever you have imagined in your little head.

However, what I can see is players that are on a PVE realm who chose that realm for the same reason it realm was created. Controlled PVP. To PVP when they want.

Not to have PVE created content that as a portion of it that puts you into a forced flagged PVP area.

Makes no sense to develope content with that mentality in mind just to send PVE driven players into PVP zones.

Now, it it's PVP content thats a different story but so far thats not the case. Should Ilum turn out to be the something simiar to what it was (purely a PVP area and content) then there is really no argument. It's PVP content with PVP rewards - The way it should be.

However, if there going to try and turn it into a PVE content quest with some PVP attached to it just to force some PVP that people on a PVE realm usually seem to be avoided when it comes to just random PVP anyway.

Well, thats just poor design.

As much as I would love to see it and had high hopes for Ilum, not sure World PVP can happen in SWTOR at this time. I remember see soemthing about the game engine not being able to handle a large number pf people in one place and that was said by someone at BW.

I'll post the quote if I can find it.

World PVP - Just not really going to make it unless the players do it. Forcing it to happen will never work and creating a gank fest area will just make things worse.

Oh IS NOT PVE CONTENT, can you understand it?

You definition:

"PVP content is driven to put you up against another player."

Is this event in a PvP Zone?

yes --> so it is content for PvP

"However, what I can see is players that are on a PVE realm who chose that realm for the same reason it realm was created. Controlled PVP. To PVP when they want."

Oh are you forced to go to a PvP zone? No
Is that zone skippable? yes
You need it to do PvE content? No

"Makes no sense to develope content with that mentality in mind just to send PVE driven players into PVP zones."

Why are you assuming this, why?
For having it you have to fight, is not PvE content (you definition) so you don't need it for PvE or similar stuff.

IS NOT PVE CONTENT. You are not forced to do anything.

Is the robe from a flashpoint a PvE robe? Yes,
PvP player for having it is forced to do PvE? Yes

Is this event in PvP area? Yes, so reward are for PvP.
So is like a "PvP flashpoint" or not?

Just because there is a quest giver does not mean is a PvE stuff. :V

Hanging around in Outlaws den during the HK release is the most fun I've had in SW:TOR in months.

I play on a PVE server because when leveling, I don't want to be ganked, i just wanna level and get past it. However, I love pvp, much more than pve, and I especially love open world pvp. I went to outlaws den solo and killed people, both imps and rep, for maybe 3 hours. I started with the philosophy of "if its red, its dead". Then, when I noticed people who were dying a lot, I'd then help them out. I also attacked large groups whilst solo (managed to kill 4 at once) so I couldn't really be accused of ganking. In short, it was great, and it renewed my faith in the game for a short time.

This new event is being held in Ilum. That means everyone will get auto-flagged. That means proper, random, world pvp WITH a reward. This will be the first time since Ilum collapsed that we've had a combination of world pvp with a reward! I, for one, am excited. Outlaws den was fun, but ultimately pointless because no valor, no gear or anything so after the fun wore off, there was no reason to return.

I can appreciate that the strict PVE'rs wont want to head to Ilum, but I also seriously doubt that any of the rewards from Ilum will be required (i.e. BiS gear) and thus your decision to participate on Ilum will be 100% voluntary. If the event is 100% in the pvp area then everyone will just have to deal with, the previous events have been almost 100% PvE so it is good that Bioware are addressing the needs of the pvp community.

Hopefully whatever they are doing on Ilum will be sustainable within the PvP community. That is my biggest concern, that this event / Ilum revamp will just be 5 days of fun and then return to emptiness. Language in the announcement like "repeatable event" seriously worries me!

Currently retired due to poor design decisions within the game that have killed its longevity. Get rid of Hickman before he ruins the game completely!

Since you have little of an idea what your talking about, have no idea what the content really is or what the gear is or what it is driven to or for. About all you know is it is in the contested area but that may or may not be forced flagged PVP. (but it it might if going by the old ilum standards) There really is no other reason to rant with you.

However, if the content turns out to be purely content for PVP. Then I have no problems with it. It's something PVE players can avoid. Just like WZ and whatever gear comes with PVP content.

But lets not assume PVE content of any kind needs a PVP portion tagged on it. Such as the HK quest line, it never needed the PVP portion it had just for the sake of placing a PVP flag on people who chose a realm just to avoid such problems.

So many threads about this update. All have the same pvp/pve argument. If there is this much confusion, I put the blame squarely on EAWare. The manner in which they are releasing information on this update is a complete and total joke. First, we get a cryptic update in the state of the game address earlier this year, now they let only a handful of details come out yesterday. It's a bush league move and frankly, I'm not surprised. This is coming from the same company who gave us a name of the expansion without ANY details, other than what planet it will be on and that one or two NPC's would introduce same gender romance options. Then, they expected customers to shell out $10 (I realize it isn't that much) for early access. This isn't effing Apple, where all they have to say is the next update to any one of their products is coming in the future and provide very little details on what upgrades are coming. They have brand loyalty, this game does not. People need a legitimate reason to drop their hard earned money on something.

I realize they don't have to tell us anything, but they made the decision to, so it opens them up to criticism if they do it so poorly (like what we're seeing now). If they're going to half-***** it like they just did, I wished they would just say nothing until the day it drops on the PTS.

By the looks of the boss battles there , then yes that is PVE content , unless there is a new playable race called "Giant mother fudging whompa" that I didn't know about. I guess we will all have to carry two sets of armor PVE and PVP. We must wait and see about what gear drops ( or reward ) , PVE or PVP or both.

BTW I do believe this is only one section and the others might be Belsavis , voss and a mobile fleet ? Don't think they have flagged PVP zones but they might.

Cheers,

BadOrb.
