This is from another thread, but it's so spot on, I decided to make a new thread and quote it just so it would be on the first page and sure to be read, rather than at the end of the thread it came from. Enjoy.

Subpoint A: being autoflagged for PvP is NOT open world PvP. It is being autoflagged. Period.

Subpoint B: there are skill-less, worthless scrubs who like to gank PvE'rs forced into the auto-flagged PvP areas trying to get to the PvE objective.

Insane Troll Point A: Someone says 'lol it's fun trying to get past them u shuld try it' , completely ignoring the point that the objective shouldn't even be placed in an autoflag area AND that some people don't like PvP at all.

Making a 'new event' in an area that autoflags you for PVP is never, ever , ever a good idea. There is not a single, solitary positive aspect to it, and the designers who do it need to be fired, immediately.

You are ignoring the desires of your PVP customers who want the PVP open world experience to reward them for PVP.

You are irritating people who want to participate in a PvE event and do not wish to PVP and who are harassed by the minority of griefers who like bothering said PvE people.

You are enabling a constant friction between PvE and PvP above and beyond what you've already done, where every single solitary change to skills has been solely based on PvP issues without any regard to what that does to PvE viability. (Try getting a DoT DPS into an OP. Go ahead, I'll wait.)

If Bioware is incompetant enough to keep designing these moronic aspects , people need to directly address the issue.

Not a single solitary reason for WHY you have to go to the Outlaws Den has been put forth in the HK quest. Why make people get flagged for PVP in the first place? It's not fun for some people. You get someone who's just doing his story stuff and he gets flagged, he's in greens, he's gonna get destroyed, over and over again.

I agree that it is absurd to put pve objectives in a pvp area, but until 1.7 hits test center we don't know for sure yet if the autoflag is still in place. I'm really hoping they've removed the autoflag myself, but all we can do is wait and see right now.

I think it all depends on which sort of content it is in regards to. If it is a PvE-centered piece of content, with PvE-centered rewards such as a PvE questing companion pet, I'd say auto-flagging areas ought to be avoided.

However, if it's a PvP-centered event with PvP-centered rewards, then auto-flagging ought to be in.

Unless I'm missing something no where in the post does it say this section of Ilum will remain autoflag for PvP. As usual people are freaking out before even half the details are out.

Spot on? Yea... right. Making huge generalizations about PvP'ers and PvE'ers is not spot on.

They made this mistake with HK part scanner on a vendor in the Outlaws Den, I wouldn't put it past them to do it again. BUT, of course it's only an assumption and I hope to god I'm wrong.

After getting chain ganked for nearly 6 hours trying to get a part that first day , I really remembered why I always have hated PVP in MMOs

Choosing a PVE server shouldn't mean I'm forced into PVP situations while doing PVE related things. Honestly, the people that wanted world PVP are likely on PVP servers. They'll automatically get what they want in this new area simply because it's contested. If people on a PVE server want to get some world PVP in, then they should have rolled on those servers.

Exactly. People that rolled on a PVE server did so for a reason. We shouldn't be forced into PVP situations in order to complete PVE objectives. Especially in a game where they create a PVP stat that makes it impossible for PVE players to fight back.

I agree with this. If you choose to play on a PvE server you should NEVER be forcibly flagged for PvP. It should always be a choice. You wouldn't have come there if you wanted open world PvP.

PvP servers I'm OK with a forced flag in certain areas.

Ilum however is an area which has always has a PvP marketed flavour to it, so personally I for one am looking forward to it getting an auto-flagged PvP area.

As a player on a PvE server, I disagree to that. In my view PvE servers ought to have forced PvP flags in certain areas, however developers should try not to throw in PvE oriented content into those areas. For example how to do it right would be Wintergrasp in WoW.

Whereas on PvP servers forced flagging never ought to be limited to certain areas, it should simply always be on.
