Would you be ok with it if they increased force power use for lightning and made that tree a burst dps tree?

More force attacks and more burst for the 100% force using class and the bursting tree?

Lots of logic. Please elaborate.

im asking if you would be happy if the developers added more burst dps abilities to the lightning tree and made the force use much higher. Currently we get mowed down in pvp because pvp is set up to be burst dps.

i think our friend here is stating something we all know too well already

the payoff for playing 31 lightning just isnt cutting it, even if left to free cast our burst is non existent.. while focused we're sitting ducks. and our spammed ability for this tree lightning strike hits for for under 1k sometimes on geared opponents ... its a waste

If you ask me there is already too much burst in this game without adding more.
The problem with sorc the way I see it is something we share with mercs. We have good damage potential but lack the opportunity to apply this damage as soon as we have a melee on us. The dps just drops like a cannonball in water as soon as we start to kite, and we absolutely need to kite, even if we have a healer.

For Lightning tree I would rather see something like this:

New talent parallel to Polarity shift
"Thunder and Lightning
For 10 seconds your Lightning Strike becomes instant cast and do 30% more damage but also cost 30% more force and range is limited to 10 meters. In addition, your Lightning Strike has a 30% chance to proc an instant cast Thundering Blast"

Now that would be a great help while kiting. Force Slow and start strafing while still being able to do good damage to the attacker (with the potential for really great damage)

Melee would start kiting us while this was active ;p

the reason lightning is pointless at the moment in general is because in PVP its all about burst dps and fast movement. Our lightning tree doesn provide us with either due to the casting time and once a melee jumps you, you dont have the tools to keep them off you while on the move. If i have a melee jump me...and im a lightning build i am pretty much dead.In a madness build i at least can keep them snared and rooted while dishing out damage on the move.

I'm not sure how a madness build provides better kiting capabilities, as you only have creeping terror and the stun from whirlwind if you use it in that way. Lightning has the root on overload and bubble blind, which are superior roots/stuns. Madness has more things that can be activated while on the move, though, so that's were its ease of use comes from.

creeping terror has the 2 second root which has a faster cooldown.

Impossible to Kite in this game without LoS. I have a 2 second root on creeping terror and a force speed. 15 and 20 second CD respectively. Ragers get 2 jumps and increased run speed after jumping. Their charge has a 30 meter range. In 2 seconds while they are rooted and I pop my force speed, I can't go 30 yards. Carnage is even worse, their big damage ability is 10 meter range (for a melee class...) And they have a root on another 10 meter throw that ignores resolve and force speed. Plus they have another root on their jump so I can't run away, and a third root on their channeled ability which is also uninterruptable for some reason. PT's are even worse than Ragers, harder to avoid railshot than smash, and same range, but getting pulled just irritates me much more than being jumped to. Worst of all is assassins. They pop out of nowhere, use my same abilities, hit harder with those abilities, get extra abilities on top of those that hit even harder, have multiple purges of my dots and roots, have my same speed, and on a shorter CD

The single thing that pisses me off most in this game though is those dots. Although I guess it's more of a madness thing than lightning, but does affect us both. Dots do not do more damage than regular abilities. So there is no DPS reason to choose them. They don't interrupt captures, or break stealth, so there is no gameplay reason to choose them. They do break CC, and are purgeable, so there is actually multiple reasons NOT to choose them.

DoT's in this game are in every way shape and form inferior to DD abilities in PVP. Every way.
