Its not semantics, it's about how we interact with the game world which is very important in most games but especially important in an RPG. But there are also some pretty big cartel market offenders, such as the valiant jedi armor(Jedi character creation screen armor before it was released on market) and the white crystals(in game, then removed and then sold back to us for cash).

Fair enough. I hope Bioware can come to a more happy medium where people can obtain stuff both from the market and by playing in-game. Right now I'm not very encouraged...

it is indeed a bitt of an insult adding such iconic items to the CM and not in-game, as well and worse of all, at such hight price...

Because an MMO is first and foremost a business. The purely subscription model wasn't returning on the investment quite enough, so they have to start selling stuff that people want.

And people want things like a Revan mask. It doesn't hurt the integrity of the game, so even though it would be cooler to earn it, it's definitely not more profitable.

This mystifies me though. Why does what someone else did or didn't do to possess what they have bother or concern someone else in the least? If you're proud of your achievements, more power to you but why is there any concern that perhaps others didn't take that same path and/or game achievements don't mean that much to them?

I should think that the only real concern would be that if someone purchased their gear instead of "earning" it or "working" for it would be the possibility that they don't really know how to play their toon and are therefore a liability in any groups they're in. And even this is not necessarily or always true.

Most people are not saying gear isnt exclusive enough, the are saying that there needs to be methods of achieving the gear through interacting with the game. it doesnt need to be high end level bosses for ops(although some items deserve a place there), it can be anything. As long as it gets the players to engage with the game, and by extension each other. What is so wrong with that? For those who dont wish to do this, fine have a copy available via the cartel market but give us Options instead of ramming it all through the shop, that way people can choose to do it the way they wish.

I feel so strongly about this that I have decided to cancel my sub because I strongly disagree with how they are managing the game since they introduced the market. I will play the class stories via F2P but I can no longer justify funding this game.

I am stunned that at least one person here wants the Cartel items to completely replace content...

why am I paying a subscription? Is it that I pay a subscription to get more current stuff than FTP players and that all future content will be through the cartel market?

they should add in Epic quests for each class that award a unique item or weapon

just like EQ1 back in the kunark days, each class had an epic weapon quest - was super long, super hard, could not do it solo etc etc.

Because some of the hard core fans of this game are not gamers at all, and are not here to play a game.

Instead they are here because it is a persistent online world set in the Star Wars universe where they can pretend to be whoever they want within that universe.

God help us if this group is large and profitable enough for EA as all I'm sure they'd have no problems milking this game by selling these people dress up items stuffed in lottery boxes.

Make it available to obtain via some monetary form and people will pay for it. They could make Satele's outfit available for $30 and people would pay for it.
