If you want the market madness to end, that's on the players...not Bioware. As long as people keep buying (and they do), they'll keep selling.

The thing that annoys me most about it is that they can make stuff like the Jedi valient stuff, yet they haven't until the Cashshop.

Which is only made worse by Bioware EA's seeming inability to impliment a /hood option.

I was vaguely looking at EQ2 earlier and I saw they had something where you could make your OWN dungeon for others to play though.......... yet in SWTOR /hood, speach bubbles and sitting random chairs are as unattainable as the Holy Grail.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

While I like the Cartel Market and agree that some things like Reven's outfit, Darth Nihilus and some of the cool looking weapons should involve having a long quest chain to obtain it (that doesn't involve killing world bosses 18 times).

However, some gears that are class restricted, you should have to pay for since you are paying for access to something you normally do not have access to.

On the other note though. I wish some of the items could be re-engineered so you can learn how to make them, rather than making them Cartel Market restricted, but it would break the market now wouldn't it.

So, SWTOR wasn't intended to be F2P at the beginning. And they claimed they had lots of future story/content already planned. Makes me wonder what they had originally planned as the way to release those armor sets.

I agree with the OP. I understand the purpose of the Cartel Market and the idea behind the loot containers, but I would really like to see some of the cool new armor sets available through in-game content, be it a long chain quest or raid content. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

Why, on God's green earth, is something as ICONIC as the Revan armor set something you get from loot bags??

( Enter, the all illusive and never mentioned Legendary items)

I am so sad that the cool new gear, weapons, and items available in the cartel market are never going to be items you had to actually go out and earn. A quest line to get the Helm of Revan? Awesome. Long chains to have a chance at getting pieces to a full set of cool new armor or lightsaber crystals that took effort (like the magenta) would have been and meant more to the community than bioware turning into a cash hound.

I guess i hoped for better.

The "immerse yourself in the star wars universe" idea has been put out to pasture. Buy your new toys, rookies.

Couldn't agree more. Something as iconic as Revan Robes should have absolutely been obtainable from in-game content.

Then you put the content itself on the Cartel Market to purchase for F2P players. That's how it should have been in my opinion. Kind of like DLC.

Seeing level 1 smugglers running around in Revan's Robes is a bit off-putting.

They had the armour sets and a lot more made, they just held back so they could milk the cartel amrket and the idiots who support and defend this type of behavior are letting themselves down because the game would be so much better if the consumer stopped letting BW/EA walk over them.

Vanity items from the Cartel market is okay. End-game gear (end game stats) is not okay. So I'm okay with Revan's mask and such being available for purchase. It doesn't cause any imbalance in the game.

Just wanted to add my support to the OP. One of my favorite things to do in MMOs has always been to quest for some rare or hard to find item. I want to be able to show off some cool swag that I worked to obtain.

Right now, there are very very few items that are worth showing off, and I think the tank mount in EC NiM and HK are the only ones that are actually "new".

I understand that the Cartel Market is the money maker, and it needs frequent updates to keep the game funded. However, the availability of those Cartel items demeans the prestige of owning them. Sure, some chest piece might look cool; but the novelty wears off when you see half the people on fleet with the exact same look.

Just as you need a continuously flowing selection of Cartel items to keep the cash coming in, you also need a continuously flowing selection of prestige items to keep the game interesting.

Part of what keeps me playing is interesting/cool content to work towards. I don't play swtor to play shopping simulator.

With adaptive armor, and all this cool armor being purchasable, everyone is starting to look the same, regardless of class or achievement. It used to be that you'd see someone running around with a cool new set of armor and thinking that's the look you want, and you had something fun/cool to work towards over the next weeks/months.

Instant gratification gets old fast 'cause it has very shallow worth/achievement.
