This just released:

  • The Spymaster and the Phantom outfits were both adjusted to look more like their advertised appearance in the Cartel Market, after we received more than a few remarks about this dissimilarity. This is to ensure that customers receive the advertised appearance.
  • Currently, the Stylish Dancer’s outfit is advertised as being white, but it should be red, as it appears when you preview the item. This will be adjusted for a future patch.
We apologize for any inconvenience. In the future, we will ensure that all assets are in alignment on the Cartel Market. The final products are meant to look like the advertised art.

You know, im getting so bored of the apologetic posts attacking players who post their disappointment about EA (The real Bioware is dead and gone) handleing of this game and the OP is just another person looking to give EA a free ride with no accountability.

This entire thing reminds me of the situation I had when I got my first Rescue cat.

I saw the kitten and adopted it.
They assured me the kitten was healthy
2 weeks later they contect me "Oh, we forgot to tell you the kitten has Feline Herpes Syndrome and you can never have another cat and will probably pay thousands of dollars or more for its care. But you can replace it now after forming an attachment to it"

Of course I didnt give up cat because I had formed an attachment and instead suggested they cover any bills relating to the feline herpies syndrome for falsifying medical records at time of adoption.

Of course they wouldnt. Their answer was to just rip a sick animal away from yet another home if finally felt secure in.

I told them where to go and how to get there and let them know I will ALWAYS tell people this story about them as there is tons of legit adoption places that dont do junk like what they pulled.

EA just acting like that organization, but kinda even worse

I was given the choice to trade in the product I received or keep the original faultily product (I kept my cat and glad I did)
These players, even though the armor didnt reflect the ad, formed an attachment to the items they got and now its just changed over night.

Simple solution here is once again not reflected in the answer done

1) Make sure the product you were selling matched the product you advertised to AVOID ANY SCREW UP before hand

2) Give players a choice to trade in now its after the fact. Those that wanted the promised item get the promised item. Those that like what they received wrongly (no fault of their own) are allowed to retain the product they formed attatchment to.

This isnt Rocket Science OP and its clear as day why people would complain about the forced change after that fact (and why people would complain when they initially received the wrong outfit).

Why are you so quick to defend EA when the OBVIOUS answer here to this all is OBVIOUS.

You say EA can never catch a break, what about the players who paid real money for a item and now they stuck with one they dont like? Dont they deserve a break as well?

PS: For the record, I didnt like or want the phantom armor so this doesnt effect me at all in any way. However I have friends on both sides of this issue who are effected. Some liked the ad armor and were upset they didnt get what promised and some never saw the ad, they saw the armor on someone else (how it displayed in game before today) and on that they ran out and purchased. So they are SOL now as the appearance they purchased has now been changed over night.

I really dont get these posters that constantly make excuses for bad bussiness choices by EA and bad customer service by EA.

Why is it so wrong to just expect PROPER SERVICE AND PRODUCT?
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

It was not as soon as it released, and the acknowledgement was on the forums ONLY!

I bought and obtained these armor sets through cartel packs and then modded and wore them before they acknowledged anything about it being a bug. On top of that, I never even saw the post when going to the forum during the periods I had time to do so(which isnt often! I don't get a lot of free time on the computer thanks to working). When I was finally shown the post, the date showed it was made AFTER the items were already modded and bound to my characters. And it was also made during the holiday season, which meant I was incredibly busy and unable to check the forums for this kind of small update had I even wanted to. So I was totally screwed out of several items sets I enjoyed and paid for because I didn't happen to see one post on a forum during a busy part of the year when visiting said forum wasn't possible for me, which doesn't even matter because I had bound said items to me before that forum post was even made. That Is SO totally fair.

It was on the forum an hour after the servers were online, only on the forum yes but pretty much simultaneously, just like people complaining about the newest dancer set this patch

Some people write that this was the right way to go. I can think at least one way they could have pleased everyone with the same amount of labour. Two different armors and possibility with ticket to either change or petition for refund.

They made a mistake. It is never (yeah, its a theory about good companies) acceptable to make customers pay for your mistakes.

The post I've seen, the only post people keep bringing up/linking where it was acknowledged, was made on December 12th. I bought those cartel packs and items way before that, they were bought in Nov.

The phantom and Perceptor armors were not released on november but on December 11, it came in the Blockade runner pack

The Spymaster and trailblazer armors never garnered much attention when they were released in november, but they had complaints then as well, I remember

I am referring mainly to Spymasters, which I had on two characters, well before the Dec 12th post.

Edit: This is the post everyone keeps referring me to. I never saw it when It was made, nor did I ever see any complaint posts about the way the armors looked. Again, I do not get the luxury of being able to check forums often. MAYBE once or twice a week if I am lucky. We shouldn't be told we are at fault because we didn't see a forum post. Especially when this post was made during a holiday period. I barely had time to even log into the game, much less find Biowares response to this on the forums.

It should also be said plenty of people in the thread asked Bioware NOT to change the armor look, but just fix the advert for it.

First of all, kudos on keeping the cat.
I would too but I know not everyone would and for that you should be commended. And although I'd definitely tell them where to go and how to get there like you did, the only thing I would've done differently is that I would never ask them to cover the bills, because I'd never expect them to keep their promise but most importantly I wouldn't want to have anything to do with them ever again.
It would be my decision to keep it and my burden to bear and for that burden I'd have the enjoyment of its company as a reward. Which is why I never understand the people who keep bashing the game even though it's their decision to keep paying and playing it.
I would definitely tell everyone I knew what I thought of them though and I honestly think we do fail to realize the power we have as consumers (or pet owners ) to influence others or the "damage" we can cause to a business and therefore demand respect.

I'm pretty sure most people suggested that Bioware should give the people who liked the older look a chance to get it back.
Seeing as how the Phantom Set is not only available through direct purchase but rather through Cartel Packs or the GTN, it would be extremely difficult to pay back those that didn't like the fix. What if I bought 50 packs and in one of them I found the phantom piece. Should BW refund me for all 50 packs? How could they know if I was indeed buying them for that specific set?

The only logical solution would be to make the old design available through an in-game vendor or a BoP mail.
They chose not to do that - a wrong call if you ask me.

However, the item was indeed bugged. It didn't look like it was supposed to, as it was advertised and people asked Bioware to correct their mistake and they fixed it making those that purchased it based on what was advertised, happy.

Again, I'm not trying to defend EA or Bioware or Cartel Market (lol). I'm just trying to point out that yes, maybe they should have indeed somehow given people the old look back, but at least they fixed a mistake they'd made and which they promised to fix. So there's a negative way to look at this whole thing or a positive one. Considering they changed something to look exactly like they advertised it to be, I'm going to look at this positively - even though it could've been handled better.
