This has probably been stated multiple times and I don't know why people just don't listen:

If you do not want to pre-order. Don't.

Not only will it save you the worry of "zomg am I getting ripped of!?" But, if the content sucks, you can rest assured in knowing that you don't ever have to buy it, and you can give up on the game because that's the only way forward.

Seriously people, this topic did not warrant this many threads.

Some of us were hoping to know what we were buying BEFORE we bought it...
Unsubscribed due to no new Operations.
I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

People are upset over the fact if you don't preorder it now despite the fact there's little information on it you will not receive the 5 days early access. It's a reasonable complaint, not everyone likes blindly purchasing things.

Then wait until after it's released. It's an idea so crazy it just might work!

It really isn't reasonable at all. If you need the 5 days that badly then think like this : "I'm spending 10$ so I can play earlier. The 10$ is for early access and nothing else." You won't be disappointed that way. However, if the risk of getting shafted seems too big for you, then don't do it. It's really simple once you realize you can't have everything, all the time.

Personally, I'm waiting. If the x-pac blows, I'm leaving the game and will have kept ten dollars.

Well for those of you who didn't like my Hobbit comparison, here's some other ones for you. Right now on Fandango you can preorder tickets for Monster's University, (sequel to Monster's Inc.) The Hangover Part III, Grown Ups 2, The Wolverine, 300: Rise of an Empire and Insidious: Chapter 2. None of these movies have trailers or expanded information released about them at this time, yet I can go preorder tickets for all of them. The final Harry Potter book was available for preorder prior to it's release and nobody knew anything about what was in it until information leaked illegally about 4 days before the release date. Cee-Lo Green's "Lady Killer" album was available for preorder with only 1 track available to hear. The point of the comparison was that you are not required nor are you penalized for not preordering RotHC. And they've released the same amount or more information as most other companies do concerning upcoming products.

They failed to provide information before the 7th on what is happening in the new "expansion"...not only did I not pre-order but I cancelled my sub. Lack of communication means no cash from me. The communication to the players is lower now than it has ever been since launch...terrible and getting worse...not better as can be seen by the response in this thread.
-I would rather pay for a great game than play a poor game for free.
-Viable and worthwhile are not the same when it comes to class design.

Beta tester...loved the game, hate what it has become.

Well, this is not going to be WOTLK sized expansion,I think we're all sure of that.

Sometimes announcing things ahead of time works against them too, though. I saw the big announcement for Cataclsym at Blizzcon, only to find that some of the things that were most exciting about the announcement ended up being cut from the game (Path of the Titans, Archaeology actually being a major profession, A whole entire raid tier and heroic dungeon that didn't make it, etc..)

Cataclsym was overall pretty disappointing, but I wouldn't have NOT bought it.
