Not interested in paying to pre-order something that they will deliver in 2 to 5 months from now. All they have said is spring, and that can be anywhere from March 21st to June 21st. Don't know if I will still be playing in five months so i won't be paying $10 to get 5 days of early access. I will likely buy it if I am still playing at the time, but sorry not enough info yet for me to spend $10

Also, since when does making something AVAILABLE for purchase constitute said company DEMANDING you purchase it? Never once has Bioware said you will be penalized for not preordering. They've offered a reward for those who do preorder, but absolutely no penalty for those who don't. If you're so upset about the "lack of information" concerning this expansion, why are you so upset about not getting 5 days of early access to it?

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug doesn't open until December 13th of this year. There are no trailers for it. The only piece of information about it is a teaser poster that has Bilbo's face on it. Yet you can "preorder" your tickets to this movie on Fandango right now. I don't see anyone complaining about that...
You seem to be forgetting that the only information we had prior to the announcement of the release of this expansion is that is was to be a FREE expansion. To which the BW response has been to stick their fingers in their collective ears and repeat over and over "La La La... can't hear you!".

Just think we will learn what other things are in the Expansion over the coming weeks and for the people who pre-ordered all those things will be a nice surprise. Best not to get our hopes up to much though. It's only 5 extra levels what's that in xp at a guess ? 2-3 mil xp , it will be a small xpac i think.

Cheers,

Again, this is exactly right. Don't expect too much...it's a $10 expansion, not a $40 one. Expect what they've revealed so far, nothing more. Don't expect new Ops, don't expect free roam space, don't expect new PvP, don't expect anything other than what they've told you...and even that you need to take with a grain of salt imo. The new "flashpoints" may very likely just be "Hard modes" of ones we have. Personally, I want the +5 levels and I plan to be here through the "Spring of 2013"...so it's worth it to me. If it isn't to you, wait...you lose nothing but the early access by waiting.

You'll note that I cancelled my WoW sub when MoP was announced. I hated the preorder there, too, and after the (extremely) mixed bag that was Cataclysm I was not going to stick around. I'm glad I did, because afterwards Diablo III was the final nail in the Blizzard coffin for me.

Also, comparing a movie based on a book is a terrible comparison. You can reasonably assume that the movie will follow the book. In fact, you can read the book RIGHT NOW and get a fairly good idea of what to expect. You can't do that with Makeb.

Can you point me to the RotHC book? Because I'm pretty sure I know what is in the Hobbit from this book I read.

I mean, generally before I buy ANYTHING, I want to know a certain amount about it. That goes for video games. I know some people go "NEW GAME IN MY FAVORITE FRANCHISE SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" but I am not one of those people. Okay, okay, I did it once. With Diablo III. And it was the worst money I'd spent in a long time. So really, I'm reticent to buy anything without SOME information. Like, I don't need you to tell me the intricate details or anything.
For example (and please don't tune me out here. I get it, you hate pandas. Me, too. I haven't been subbed to WoW in ages. JUST LET ME USE MY EXAMPLE OKAY), Look at the one Blizzard WOTLK trailer. It was extremely general. New talents. New dungeons. New raids. Northrend. You fight the Lich King. Death Knights would be the new class. Still, that coupled with my past experiences with Blizzard was enough to tell me that 1) There was going to be lots of content, 2) It told me who the bad guy was, 3) It told me that there would be class revamps, 4) It told me that there would be a brand new class. And this was WAYYY before they even opened up preorders. We had even MORE information when that big shiny preorder option came out.

Look at the information we have for THIS preorder. 1) it's a planet the size of belsavis, 2) 5 more levels, 3) Fighting the Hutt Cartel. I'm sorry, but that isn't even half the information the WOTLK trailer had, and keep in mind they didn't even have preorders when that came out. They expect me to preorder something with very, very little information, and I don't have the confidence that I had with Blizzard when purchasing WOTLK. Playing this game has been a string of disappointments and broken promises. Why should I trust BW/EA at all? Also, this thing is supposed to hit in, what, 3 months? Do you know how much information was available about the Blizzard xpacs 3 months from launch? We had mountains of it. You know, because Blizzard wanted to SHOW OFF and MARKET their game and get us excited about it. They didn't hide it all and say "IT'S COOL BUT WE'RE NOT TELLINGGGGGGG." That sort of thing just makes you look like a scumbag and that maybe, just maybe, you are not being honest with us.

It's as if a shady car salesman came up to me and was like "We've got this great new car! I'm not going to tell you anything about it other than it's purple and got 4 wheels and a CD player! Are you excited? You want this AWESOME CAR? Well, pay me first, and then I'll show you how great this is." Would you give that guy your money?

So I will respectfully hold off on preordering. I know, I know, I won't get ~*~SUPER SPESHUL EARLY ACCESS~*~ but honestly, I won't hold my breath. I'm sure I can level just fine without that head start. Besides, my guild is pretty cool and I'm sure they'll wait up for me, especially since many of them have the same doubts as I do.

Just my (extremely TL;DR) two cents.
What we know:
New abilities. Level increase. New flashpoints. New Operations. Makeb. You fight the Hutt Cartel.
The only difference? No new class.

Really, it looks pretty much the same in those terms. Look how many zones there were in Cataclysm to earn five levels. For all we know, Makeb could be the first entirely explorable planet. I do, however, agree that more information would be nice. Even just screenshots of what the environment looks like would be nice.

EDIT: The new flashpoint/operation information comes from what I read in the State of the Game post. I don't generally read things wrong, but if I did, then I rescind my statements.

Not really. We had flyovers of Northrend, etc. in the trailer, too. I also mentioned that this was just the ANNOUNCEMENT trailer. Makeb was announced way before now with even less info. I also pointed out that they didn't immediately open up preorders after that announcement, and by the time that actual WOTLK preorders were out, we knew even more.

No. There will be A new ability, not multiples. There MAY be more, but they've specifically stated one.
There has been NO indication of a new Operation.
You're assuming we fight the Hutt Cartel, but we could possibly be working to gain their favor...this is another assumption of yours.

Here's the thing though, if it's a $10 expac, not a $40 expac then it would be fair to assume we're getting 1/4 the content at 1/4 the cost right?

Well the $40 expac comes with
1700 new quests
7 new flashpoints
3 new warzones
3 new raids
1 new class
1 new race
New Level Cap
Extended Crafting to new level cap
New Abilities/Spells
Two new game systems 1. Pet Battles 2. Farming
And then a huge laundry list of minor things like new seasons of pvp, new tiers of gear, new mounts, new pets etc.

In order for RotHC to be 1/4 of that it would need to come with
400 quests (We have been told it is the size of a larger planet which means it will come with between 150-210)
2 New Flash points (none are included)
1 New raid (none are inlcuded)
1 New Warzone (none are included)
New levels, new abilities (these will be included)
But there are currently nothing else.

So yes, we should expect about 1/4 the content for 1/4 the price, but what they are trying to sell is about 1/10 the content for 1/4 the price...
