Hey James! Thank you for posting.

I invite you to take a look at the forum thread, "Banned for Lagging" : http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=581901

I understand you are probably not directly involved with CS complaints, but perhaps you have some insight into how bad lag, dropped packets, network spikes, and other issues can impact gameplay and give the appearance of warping or moving faster than one should (depending on how your server and client are coded to handle such interruptions).

As to my personal experience with what appears to be lag, it's generally in warzones, and generally impacts every player in the warzone, which would seem to suggest something serverside.

I appreciate any time you might have to look into this,

Thanks,

I have also ran several continual pings via PingPlotter to both 159.153.72.252 and 159.153.78.42 and while there is packet loss on a few of the hops, by far the bottleneck and/or increased latency happens at 195.2.27.90 when pinging or tracing to both IPs. This is where my fairly constant pings jump into the 290s and 300s ms ranges. The DNS of that IP is: bioware-gw2-duc.cw.net. My best guess is this is the Bioware outside edge router.

I have uploaded a screenshot of my PingPlotter results. As a note this run was for a short time, however I have ran the ping for at least 6 to 8 hours with the same results at 195.2.27.90. If more details are needed, I would be happy to provide them. However, based on the results, I am confident in saying the increased latency is not being caused by my local hardware. I also believe that the hops that show 100% loss more then likely have replies to ICMP disabled by the local ISP.

PingPlotter screenshot is here:

Thanks for your time.

Greetings. Starting yesterday, me and several of my friends spread out over Portugal have had nearly constant lag spikes when playing SWTOR. This started yesterday. The connection bar has the usual 4 bars(40-55 latency), then suddenly drops to 2 bars (300-500 latency), sometimes 1 red bar (1300+ latency), then back to normal. It has happened on the "Tomb of Freedon Nadd" european server, both on empire and republic side. We are spread out over 3 cities and 2 different ISPs.

Time of day you feel latency is worst (if it is restricted to a particular time of day, please include your timezone)
- It's constant and happens every so often, at various times of day. It has happened in the morning, afternoon and evening. Happens approximately 10-20 times per hour.

Your traceroute output at the time you are experiencing the issue using the 'code' tag (see below for details)
-

To finish this, I'd just like to state that i used to work for my ISP, and 4 of the other affected players still do, and they are looking into the issue themselves, and have yet to find any problem related to their infrastructure. Most likely it is really an issue affecting that hop (Vlan756.icore2.LDN-London.as6453.net ) in the route the packets are taking to get to the bioware server. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

It looks like this is owned by a Canadian ISP - Im guessing its Bioware's network provider. So it's just another case of a contract battle to get the work done to fix it.

Same issue again tonight and same as the last 3 nights the latency occured between 20:30 and 21:30 after which I logged off.

again im on the Progenitor EU

the first night I was questing
the second night I was doing a FP
the third night I was doing an OP

my timezone is GMT

some of my friends (also from the UK) suffered the same problems at the same time and one of them is using a VPN but although he has noticed a general improvement in latency he still seemed to suffer the long lag when I did.
Neil.
