I have been harassed nonstop thanks to being a guy. Sometimes they ask for pictures, other times they ask about what i'm wearing, it's awful. I mean its not like I go out of my way to let them know my gender. I can't help telling them that I'm ridiculously sexy and have a modelling career. Its just so tough!

Well, first let me apologize for the wall of text that offended so many of you. It was certainly not my intention to present such a mental and/or visual challenge to you. Lucky for everyone, it isn't required reading.

For those who did read and comment, thank you. There were lots of constructive ideas in there:

1. Do not reveal rl gender. Lesson learned, albeit the hard way.

2. Use comment section on friends list. Genius.

3. Find a guild. I will start looking and worst case scenario: /gquit

4. Pay attention to names. That one would have helped me out at least once today. Unfortunately not with pervert...

5. Do not be shy with ignore. I ignore people all the time in rl, so why not in game as well

6. These things happen to lots of people. It is nice to know I am not alone...

So thanks for that! Made me feel a little less stressed about logging in again.

Lastly, to the few people who didn't read OP, but we're kind enough to comment...Thank You. It takes a "special" kind of person to take time out of their day to make negative comments on a post they didn't read.

My advice is to roll a new toon and get involved at the lower levels, that way you get a better idea what to expect when it comes to puging in an mmo.

"where are you my lady" lol realy? haha. sry.
Well anwsering to your question, no its not normal. But can happen. i spend most of my time playing on flashpoints in HM and grouping for heroics on the daily quests, and yes you will find crazy, clueless people in how to play the dam game, but its not always. But surely it happens more often then before it was a group finder.
For what is worth i bet that if you replied to the dude saying you were interested in a "connection" i bet he will pee his pants.
But if someone is bothering you, you can right click on his name and put him on ignore list if im not mistaken.

Nah tell your gender if you want whats the matter?! its irrelevant, imature people will act imature no matter what, either online or in real life.

It's only harassment because you yourself specifically make it out to be. It's as simple as just ignoring the person and moving on, they won't be bothering you again.

You don't know why they're messaging you these things, or care. They're ignored, done. There's no reason to take away their right to play a videogame just because they're typing things with their keyboard which is easily ignored regardless.

Might they have had a bad night and they're drinking? Stupidly, yes, they decide to annoy you through text. And instead of just ignoring it, you wish to go to greater lengths to make sure that they're banned or losing something.

Spiteful, honestly. Report is not for these trivial things, it's for legitimate harassment and obscenities, and cheaters. Like if someone was so hellbent on harassing you that they make alts. Not these one-time things that you needlessly complicate.

By the way, I'm not writing this due to a scenario that happened to me or anyone else. I myself have never been banned, and neither have you probably. Which is why you don't get that being banned is for serious offenses and not for things uptight people deem "reportable".

I got beaten pretty badly in the warzones today but nothing was even close to that wall of text. I died a little bit in real life...

sigh, if someone is following you despite requests to be left alone, if they makes sexual comments at you continuously, etc etc - yes its harassment. its not spiteful to report them, its prudent. its using the system the way it was intended to be used. and trust me, once report is made and ignore added? I do move on. but I'm not letting awful behavior slide, because then these people harass someone newer to the game, or younger, or take your pick and they ruin someone else's day. and sometimes it can escalate. I'd rather deal with it BEFORE it escalates.

and thank you for calling me uptight. because it that's what it means being uptight? taking no BS from anyone and not letting them get away with bad behavior? then I'll gladly wear that definition as a badge of honor.
letting things slide is what ends up with a toxic community and players you actually want to be playing with - leaving.
