A nod to Firefly?

Enter into the cargo hold in the back, stairway on the left leading to a catwalk which takes you to the bridge. The general shape of the main room. Even the doors feel reminiscent . Is it an exact copy, no of course not. Could it be coincidence? Sure. There is a common utility to the layout.

And yet, the moment I stepped into that ship with my first BH, I found it very.... familiar.
Oh, my sweet and fuzzy Lawd. You're right. I wonder if it has the fold-away loo as well?

Welp, I'm off to create a bounty hunter now ... I may be some time.

I wonder why they didn't make it the smuggler ship? I mean, sure, you're Han Soloish, you have a Wookiee and everything, so you get the Falcon ... But to make so fine a ship and give it to a Boba Fett analogue ...
Two blasters; no waiting!

Don't agree with the Firefly part.
Though, after watching The Avengers, my respect for Joss Whedon went down. There were several things that made no sense and the ending was as cheap as heck. All the aliens conveniently die after the main ship or mothership is destroyed, what a rip off that was.

Wasn't there a nod to LOTR? When you're talking to Baras on Korriban he says "with this ONE RING". He said it so weird that it just has to be a nod to LOTR, makes no sense to say "with this ONE RING", could have just said "WITH THIS RING".

Are you sure you weren't thinking of Twilight? There's vampires in Joss Whedon's universe too, but they don't sparkle...

I hate to be 'uber-nerd' but Lando, in ROTJ, was wearing Tantel Armor. Marbari Armor is what Zam Wesell wore in episode 2.

And other things.

Again, those who merely think of firefly for the 13 episodes they had and not what it could of BECOME, you are just near sighted.
Meh, Firefly to me seemed to be along the lines of old school anime as far as plot structure. I could see it lasting somewhere between 36-52 episodes as a whole. Sure, the stuff with the shepard could be elongated, but the subplot with the young doctor and River simply did not feel as something that would last long.

I'll admit, I didn't like captain Reynolds, and my like/dislike of the protagonist determines how much I get into a series. As such, I'm not going around declaring "Joss Whedon is my master" or anything of the sort.

Interesting. This makes sense, any time I don't like the protagonist of a show I can't really get into it either.

I sort of had the opposite reaction to Nathan's portrayal of the character. I liked the dialog that was written for it, and Mal's personal moral compass was interesting to me. This sort of jelled for me during this conversation:

"How do I know you're not going to kill me in my sleep?"
"You don't know me, son, so let me explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake. You'll be facing me, and you'll be armed."

Obviously this is just a personal reaction, but I found myself wanting to find out more about the character, and the situations he would get into.

Incidentally, the setting (Cowboys in Space) also reminded me of Robert Heinlein's theory about human colonization. Until the colony was self-sufficient and had industry, it's going to have horses, pigs, chickens and gunpowder. Not many hovercars can breed ...
