And yes, you get into a silly little circle of introducing ever better gear to keep those players happy, and then giving a boost to new players. But its kind of what people want.
It's not what I want. Just because pandas are apparently the best idea for the future majority of one game doesn't mean that I want to see pandas in every game I play. Being in the majority alone doesn't make someone right. It doesn't mean it's the best group for a business to cater to either.

I disagree. I'd say one of the biggest problems with WAR was that everyone sat in towns and queued for the same BGs each tier to farm rank/gear instead of actually going out into the world to PvP--near release when they lost most of their people anyway. There were reasons to go outside but nobody did because they followed the better maths method of farming (even though they got sick of doing the same thing 100x over) right up until the day they quit.

That's just another debate entirely. I imagine we would actually agree on a lot of points here, but you would probably inevitably quit an MMO where I was happy at end-game and vice versa.

Totally agree. The open world zones like Ilum and tat are nice, but there needs to be some reward, even small, for killing an enemy anywhere. There is so much potential for organized pvp events on almost all the planets, but this can only happen if there is rewards for killing other players.

When PvP becomes about gear instead of enjoying the actual gameplay then you end up with a love/hate demand for "content" in the form of better maths on items. Then you end up creating a greater gap between new players (the life-blood of healthy PvP), and veterans who not only have more knowledge, but now a significant gear advantage as well.

Then you end up trivializing this previously prestigious gear by creating higher tiers of gear that are easier to get in order to try to close the gap between new and old players. If it all gets recycled like this you might as well just wipe the server every so often and start over. It's just rehashed crap.

I understand that kids are fond of this DBZ style power level increasing scheme, but some of us actually just like to PvP because it's fun... or at least it can be if it's not turned into a tedious grocery shopping list for items that enable you to play on an equal level with some and totally demolish others.

To some in this generation that's what an MMO is all about... FYI, that is definitely not what everyone wants.
Didn't say the rewards had to be gear, bro.

PvP because it's fun is ********, as well. I've not been on the MMO circuit long (aside from five years of WoW and about as many of Runescape when it first started out), but some acknowledgement of success when you win is the only way to keep the majority of players happy and they spent too much on this game to be able to lose as many people as they would lose from having the same thing at the same level with absolutely no change. The logistics of sticking to just the PvE and select hardcore PvP crowd won't cover their massive costs.

This is why world PvP rewards should NOT be individual rewards (or atleast only marginally so). Make it something like...a 10% damage buff for the ENTIRE faction that controls a PvP world, for as long as they can hold it. Ad a second PvP world with a 10% healing buff for the faction that holds it. A third with a 10% XP gain buff, etc. When I say 'for the faction that holds it' I mean faction wide, everywhere. If Republic holds all 3, that level 1 alt that you just rolled is doing 10% more damage, 10% more healing, and gaining 10% more XP.

Watch people drop everything to defend their worlds. Watch masive battles take place. World PvP should be meaningful and have consequences...not just 'what shiny gear can *I* get out of it".

I'd be all for cash rewards, titles, cosmetic stuff, consumables... you name it. In my experience, the people petitioning for rewards are typically the people that really want gear for it, not the rewards listed above. I don't think you'd really find many people opposed to non-gear rewards.

agreed, they defiantly need to give rewards for world pvp, not even gaining any valor points for kills is beyond a joke. i had high hopes for the pvp in this game. But if its gonna be just another farming run on warzones i cant see myself playing for long at all.
Those who don't learn from history, are condemned to repeat it.

I totes agree. Also, the non-gear rewards would be enough to assuage those who long for some kind of reward. Then the only people BioWare is leaving out are the few who can't live without the gear rewards, and that's a relatively small number of players.

My two cents:

personally I will always choose a PVP server over a PVE server and thats because it allows open world pvp, which is pretty much the only reasons I play MMO's. I'm only level ten but to hear there is no incentive to go out there and actually utilise the server i'm on is quite upsetting. If the only way I can get pvp in this game is to join up for warfront then really we're left with two types of servers.

PVE and RP.
