I believe the basic principles of game design have been more than adequately addressed with this MMO. the gaming company in question is merely exploiting an opportunity to make boatloads of cash. Is it smarmy? Of course. Is it good business? Absolutely. I don't know why anyone would take it so personal, really. It's just a mildly amusing time waster....like EVERY video game on the market.

LOL! Its freakin $$$-Cartel shop!
Not RP store.
SWTOR goes F2P; 2014 PvP FAQ, A: "We have no plans at this time" (c)
2014 cantina, A: "They’d love to do that at some point, but technically very challenging and unlikely to happen in the near future." (c)

Same principle SHOULD apply here...
Yeah, I could see it now. Luke and Han riding hover thrones through the death star, "stay cool, they don't notice a thing."

It's not about RP'ing. It's about wanting narrative cohesion, and a presentable aesthetic presentation.
I wholly agree, but aesthetic presentation went out the door with F2P. Now it's about cheap, quick buck BS to sell. It's only getting started, too.

Jeff Hickman was both joking and selling when talking about the Life Day speeder. It takes a level of cynicism to pull that off that isn't good for the game.

True but Life Day can't be taken seriously after the Christmas Special unless you mean how seriously you hate it.

Honestly, I like the idea of charging $$$ for that ugly speeder, it's a garish eyesore so at least if someone purchases it they're serving a purpose (like funding new content). I can't imagine anyone with any taste whatsoever buying that thing.

The Life Day Speeder is UGLY. Thus I'm happy they didn't make it cheap or we might have dozens *shudder* on fleet.

So I guess the conclusion is that this game will get increasingly worse now that f2p has been introduced?

Same goes for the dark side glowing eyes being available to someone even if they're lightside aligned (and vice versa).

You know what I think? These items existed before F2P ever came along, and this new development team just repurposed them for the ol' $$$ grab.

I mean, think about it: wouldn't the glowing eyes thing make a lot more sense if it were automatically unlocked once you reached a certain alignment level? It would actually give players a dangling carrot other than gear.
Of all the problems this game has, you are going to call it quits because the Throne was availible to pubs?!

I'm sure if it wasn't, there would be someone crying how unfair it is that is was NOT availible.
It's amazing how loud a dollar can be.

It bothers me some , the Republic and Empire have become practically identical now. You can wear the same gear , have the same class abilities , same vehicles , only thing that seems to set them apart now is npcs which is really sad. There should be class and fractional diversity to make them stand out as unique and special , not a huge melting pot of everything old republic all stewed together. If that's the direction Bioware is taking why even bother having factions and classes..
Through fear we have conformity , through conformity we have civilization , through civilization we have culture , and through culture we give life meaning.
