Playable Wookiee

SWG did great and was great untill the NGE hit... no one knows who to point the finger at either. SOE? Lucas Arts? Gorge Lukas?? whoever it was, they killed the game with NGE

it was their excuse for why we had no playable non human looking races in the beginning so yea their comment was correct because from what the devs said in the beginning it wouldn't matter if they could speak basic or not if the devs couldn't kiss them without being freaked out they weren't going to be in game... and yea thats perty much what they said

I actually know who is to blame for the NGE as I was among the select few who were flown down to Texas to test out the NGE. The NGE was the brain child of one Julian Torres, former or current employee of LucasArts.

Oh, and that who "kissing" comment was a bloody JOKE that was said OFF HAND at a Booth at one of the Conventions and wasn't said as FACT. So, yeah, maybe some research should be appropriate on your end. Um, I don't remember them ever ever saying that in the beginning Species speaking or not speaking Basic as being playable wasn't a factor. To my knowledge, it was always going to be those Species that CAN Speak Basic will be made Playable. YOU may see that as a cheep cop out, but really, you seriously don't have any problem playing and listening only to grunts and growls from your Wookiee Character? If you say yes, then how often do you actually spend hitting the "Space Bar" during the Cinematic Conversations?

JUST because you wouldn't have a problem, doesn't mean that everyone else wouldn't.

Id much rather play as a Hutt than a wookie. seriously.

They could have easily chosen to create a character creator that allowed us to make custom humanoid alien characters that "speak basic", and simply restricted the canon non basic speaking aliens from being played. Star Trek Online did it successfully with their character creator, and that game is was made by Cryptic. If a company as screwed up as Cryptic can do it right, then Bioware should have blown us out of the water with the budget they had to work with.

it was also rumored that George Lucas pushed for the NGE as well but Mr. Torres also got a lot of hate in the forums. it was also rumored that SOE went to Lucas arts asking for a change. like i said there was a tun of rumors about the NGE and no one, not even you ole special guy that got flown to texas, knows for sure what happened, its all speculation

as for the kissing comment i heard it in more than one video so i don't think it was just a off hand comment at a booth at a convention, in fact neither video was at a convention they were both office settings so maybe you should do some research.

and i didn't know you could hit the space bar to skip conversations!! had i known that i would be doing that a hell of a lot for the human conversations!!! the voice acting and the long drawn out explanations bore me to death.. why cant you just say here i need to you go get this here. or kill this there, or take this to bubba over yonder!! instead they take 4 min to tell me to kill something B^(

Because I'm more of a realist in knowing that certain Species would be easier to do while others would require Extra Special Treatment which would or could take resources that could be used on making other more reasonable Species.

Wookiee's worked in SWG because their weren't any actual Voice Overs in that Game, and even then, they were limited in what Gear they could wear or would show up. Heck, up until the very end, Wookiee Players kept asking for Gear that they could wear and show off. Last I saw, they still only had a few actual Wookiee Gears and less Gear that weren't Wookiee Specific that would show up and look good.

and like ive said before (either here or on another thread) its them being lazy. o its to hard to make someone roar over and over, o its to hard to make new armor just for one class. if its to hard then maybe you are in the wrong business. people want other races other than stinkin human. and i don't think you are the only one that thinks it would be easier not to have wookies and other races, we all have admitted that it would prolly be harder for them to do but also who cares??? give the players what they want!! give us some freakin variety!!! heck we could use some after a year of the same crap, same races, same quests, same paths it just shows how lazy they really were. kinda makes me wonder what tha heck took them so long to make this game

Except it is NOT them being bloody lazy. Apparently you don't get or understand JUST what all would go into the implementation of adding in bloody Wookiees.

Quite a few votes for Wookiees. But I doubt they'll ever become playable - it would require a new planet, a new class, new gear, new aesthetic designs for all gear in game, completely new creation assets, they'd be divorced from the Legacy system, etc. There's a reason that Shriiwook localization was a joke.
