is twinking bannable

Simpler solution:

If you leave a WZ, not only do you get no rewards, you pay a Valor penalty which scales based on the amount of time you've spent in the WZ.

People who occasionally disconnect or who flee abusive teams will only have to pay a small number of times, and it will be easily offset by all the times they do complete the WZ. People who habitually drop (due to a desire to stay at L49 or to be cowards and never have a piece of software tell them that they aren't the best every time) will pay the penalty a lot, and see their valor drop.

Then, to twist the knife: Put valor requirements on the best PvP gear, even the L45 stuff.

And again: This isn't twinking. Its just being a egotistical jerk.

the problem isnt the gear, its the mods in the gear, there is no requirement other than level on any mod in the game, and thats not a "simple" fix, if you add expertise to all the gear that you buy from warzone coms then it fixes the problem, it also rewards the people that only pvp to level and gives a reason to use the warzone coms on something other than wz stims

It is absolutely not the answer. Didn't you see what they just did with L50 PvP? One of the biggest and most popular changes in the last update was the leveling of Expertise, to take it out of the equation for gear tiers. That means that expertise will only give small benefits. Adding expertise into low level gear just re-introduces the problem and turns L49 PvP into what L50 PvP used to be: A gear-based progression grind. This would then reward twinking (the real twinking) and make it harder for non-twinked characters to be competitive.

Removing Expertise from gear is a better solution, but problematic as it would render some crystals and mods almost completely useless. A better solution in my mind is to simply punish people for leaving WZs after playing for any reasonable period of time.

Addressed to everyone else in the thread:

The core of twinking has always been the orchestrated gearing of a character so that it approaches best-in-category/best-in-level gear. Limiting level progression has long been recognized as a method for twinking, not twinking itself.

Redefining terms like this just leads to confusion and anger. I could just as well start a new thread titled "Bioware bans players for Roleplaying", and then later define the term "Roleplaying" to be the repeated verbal abuse of a player in the game. It's hyperbole, sure, but hopefully we can see the point. The whole point of adhering to existing definitions of words is to make it so that people can understand you. And as you can see in the thread, the majority of people still recognize the definition used from WoW all the way back through EQ and MUDs.
LOL agreed..... Alot of definitions have been changing since this game has been out. Trying to keep up with them becomes too much sometimes.

I know for me, it prolly has to do with getting older, and not keeping up with the times ( GET OFF MY LAWN )
I have been called a hater for voicing my opinion. So be it. But I would rather die on my feet, then live on my knees.

I PvP quite a bit, actually. Across all of the different classes, in both L49 and L50 PvP.

What you're asking for is a return to the system where long-time PvPers are given huge bonuses over newcomers. That was precisely the sort of thing that made people want to stay in L49 PvP, as it didn't suffer nearly the same amount of that as was seen in L50 PvP.

Of course, the PvP elitists hated it. As they felt that their time spent grinding earned them the right to trash newcomers, even if they lacked the skill of the newcomers.

The only other people who benefit from that system are the people who are actually twinking, ie: the people who use high level characters to buy/obtain the best gear for lower level alts.

I doubt you'll get your answer until the page count approaches 50 or so, as your subject does not match your question. The devs don't care about twinking. Level restrictions on gear prevent it from getting out-of-hand and the Legacy system even encourages it to some degree.

Your actual question is valid, however, it isn't what the vast majority of people define as "twinking". Sadly, since the question in your subject is simple and has been answered since beta, I don't expect anyone to give it a second look. I only came here to see why someone was asking a question which was implicitly answered by the game itself.

EDIT: I'd actually encourage you to re-ask the question with a clearer subject. It's something that I'd like to see suggested to the Devs. Except that whole Expertise thing... the devs already disagree with you on that.

Your gear, you earned it, its not bind on pick-up, its legal to sell it, give it away, put it on alts, or destroy it.

Only thing that is banable is if you used real money to buy it.....well, unless they are the one's selling it to you LOL
May the Schwartz be with you....
