Oh 'bull dude" Now i totally see your point.
Just because you can't read between the lines doesn't mean we all can't.

Wasn't Spring 2011 the first launch date target?

Don't be surprised if we don't get this till Autumn. In the meantime greedy EA will make plenty of money, anyway they can. The price is low enough not to matter to the individual buying it, so obviously most of us will pay so we don't miss out on any pre-order goodies (such as early access).

Genius EA, I love SW so you got me for now but Star Wars Fantasia online is only a few years away!

Id like to think that everyone knows that nothing is set in stone by now. Its also all about wording. Did anyone say "Absolutely, Makeb will without a doubt be released by the end of 2012"? There are no guarantees in the gaming business.

When dealing with EAware ( and gaming companies in general ), it's best not to get your expectations up.

There language is always nebulous giving them wiggle room. There are so many ways to spin the use of "this" for instance in "this year". Its best to always hear or read Soon!!(™) when times are given. Soon!!(™) is the "meta-time" construct that includes all delivery dates and therefore is apt for all discussions, dontchaknow.

The problem with this "style of communication" (being generous here), is that it leaves too much room for people to read into what is said and "hear what they want to hear". When language is used in this way, one must always be suspect and assume the worste if one does not want to be let down or better yet dismiss it entirely and adopt a seeing is believing stance. Both are cynical I agree, but, it's better to temper ones expectations.

EAware, $oE, Cyrptic, FunCo, Blizzard, etc. all pretty much employ the same tactics.

I was surprised too when I ready the bit about more information in the coming "months". By now I was expecting them to be a bit late -- stuff happens, I know -- and was hoping for Makeb in January. I guess I had figured that "this year" was such a broad timetable that it wouldn't be too inaccurate. Oh well, patience it is.

I am pretty forgiving about delays and such, but it sure would be nice if they'd communicate better. I have only played one other MMO, but gosh I miss Square Enix's communication sometimes.

Danged if they do, danged if they don't. Oh internet people, you are a fickle mistress.
How about when things change, they say something like:
"Hey guys. As you know, this is a very young game, and there is a large amount of work for us to do in order to provide you with a truly qualitative and enjoyable experience. With that in mind, we've decided to postpone the Makeb release. The new estimated release date is XXX, however, it's not set in stone yet and is a subject to change. We will keep you updated on this topic when/if something changes again."

It's one thing to announce an expansion without a release date (besides you're wrong with all 3 examples of yours), but to announce an expansion with one is something completely different.

Ah! Found it: http://www.gamerzines.com/mmo/trial-...-republic.html

This video claimed "THIS YEAR" for Makeb...Spring is not "this year".
So you gonna whine about it or stand for something and quit if you're so upset?

I'm not surprised at all because they spent most of this year trying to release all the features that should've been there at launch like group finder, server merges/transfers, etc.

Also I would like to add that I would forgive them EVERYTHING if they made Hutts into a playable species and added a 3rd faction... But those are probably my wet dreams that will never come to pass...

A dev shouldn't have to say things like that. Its sugar coating BS and most will see right through it. The latest statement on Makeb (before this announcement) was that they were still not sure if it was going to be paid content or not. If you recall, the release date for TOR changed several times.
