Two areas?

*checks*
Underwater area, giant tree, underground place, desert, battlefield, another battlefield that was a world PvP zone. That's six and that's not counting the full revamp of the entire old world (which admittedly, you didn't have to buy Cataclysm to access). Even just on zone content that's many times the additions.

Not comparable in size to Makeb at all.

I think that had less to do with the quality of the zones (many of which were pretty good) and more with the unrelenting focus on grind and the lack of content updates beyond daily areas and like a new raid somewhere.

...rather like ToR, in fact...

I would also like to point out that there were some interviews back in the early days when Makeb was leaked that centered around them advancing their ability to tell stories in a manner other than Kill X of Y, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, they said that these new stories would be more innovative and creative, since they were mastering the content development pipeline and expanding what they could do with the technology to add more puzzles and such into the mix.

Seems like it might be a fun expansion. I'll definitely be preordering and see you all there.

Ah, I hadn't known that they used to be $20. That's pretty hefty, even for OWB. I sunk a lot more than 8 hours into that DLC, though. (Although the other ones were probably not quite so long or beefy.)

To be honest I don't like how they worded it as an expansion and should have called it a DLC since it doesn't add more to the class story line, but more of an adventure pack. But right now, we are all just speculating about the content, so its pretty much a guess in the dark as to what it will bring.
Yeah, see, I would actually be totally okay with what they're offering it if they called it an adventure pack, didn't raise the level cap and didn't shoehorn the class stories into somehow being continued by it. If it could stand on its own merits and there was no need to buy it to keep up with game development or access post-RotHC content updates, I'd be pretty content. That's probably not going to happen, though.

I'm skeptical about this, but what if (and this is a big what if, now) they added like:
1 Planet
5 Levels
3 Flashpoints
3 Warzones
3 New Item Tiers
2 Ops

Do you then think it would have been a better value than a:
1 Planet
5 Levels

I think so. The fact that we don't exactly know what is comes with the expansion pack is a big mystery and if there is some clarification, people could make better consumer decisions.
Well yeah, of course that's a better value. And if that's what we end up getting for $10, I'd call that a proper mini-expansion.

BW's PR department is not very good, honestly. (Look at their F2P page; does a terrible job of selling the benefits of playing.) I understand that they've gotten kind of gun-shy about giving details away, but people will kind of go stir-crazy from lack of good information. We're all boxing in the dark, here.

But we can really only go with what we know or say "wait for more information." It's the people who go with what they know and go "this sounds AMAZING AND **** YOU IF YOU THINK DIFFERENTLY" that worry me.

Well, I guess 10 Bucks is okay for the small amount of content we will get. Lets just hope, that we´ll get a hint or a teaser for the next chapter of our class-stories.

Shrug. you are probably right. The fact that I can't remember exactly where i got that impression highlights that. Regardless of what they actually said, a lot of people thought it would be "free", which leads this this (admittedly unreasonable) backlash.

It won`t be class stories. It is only global story arc - either about hutts for ALL classes and/or empire/republic idiocy. GG

Unreasonable?

What do subs get? Bugs and lag for 15$ a month. It is really unreasonable to expect to get ONE planet for that amount of money, after sticking around for 6 months of no content (april - october). Really unreasonable...

I am really starting to fail to see my money worth of gameplay...

I do not recall if they did or did not state it would be free, they certainly implied it since it was scheduled to be in the 2012 content line up. When they redid the game for F2P it did cause delays, delays in customer service which also handles a large amount of their bug reporting and feedback among other things, like bugs on Cartel items which get a bump in priority because of the Money/Coins involved.

I think the game would have been better pushing out the content in 1.5 and 1.6 and F2p should have been this week with the whole Market having been in not one but 2 patches on the test server to give them more feedback and more time fixing it before introduction.

The 'fixes' they did like taking 'account' items that were only working for a character and patching the tooltip/text to read per character rather than fixing it seem lazy and cheap. Which is how the information on the expansion reads.
I left wow after over 5 years of playing because.. it was becoming like a console game rather than an RPG. In that time I bought the expansions, and while the price is high on those at release, it was a strong amount of content, and covered 3-4 other large expansions during the next 2 years plus usually some minor polishing things and expansions, and this was without you paying beyond the base subscription.

I have also looked at other MMOs, it seems many are using the DLC model, and that is ok, if its polished (ie minor bugs only) content and if the price fits. the price on this expansion is 20$ not 10$. 10$ is a discount rate. So the actual 'value' of the content should be judged at its real price not the discount. If one of those other games asked 20$ for the currently listed amount of content, it would only be purchased by a few with reason.

the same reason most the original subscribers left in the first place, its about Value for your $$ not about the $$ itself. I think the expansion as currently listed is overpriced for the value especially when one considers the number of unfixed bugs that are more than 3 months old, and the average ticket wait time of over 4 days and phone calls generally starting at 2+ hours of wait times.

There will be one story for each faction. They clearly mentioned playing through the "imperial storyline" in their last video.

I just wish games would expand horizontally instead of vertically. My concern is that raising the cap 5 levels will invalidate all current content. Giving us no choice but to go to 1 new zone and burn out on its limited content then rinse and repeat again a year later. Had the same issue with LOTRO and left. Please scale all the flashpoint, ops, and endgame zones to 55 so we aren't bored within a month of release. If you want to keep subs you should give people more content to do along side the previous by keep the old relevant as well.
