Class quests are my favourite part of the game, so I'm quite reluctant about buying this expansion and I really think BW could have put more effort into this ep and continue with class stories. Also, they said a while ago that they would add cathar as a playable race and yet I see nothing about it in this announcement? I would have prefered a more expensive ep but with more content, to be honest.
Sorry for the double post.

This is nothing more than a Content update with 5 more levels. Honestly look at Star trek online, that went free to play and has sinces released 5 more 'seasons' for free. Every 'season' had much more content then what is going into SWTOR's first 'expansion' and swtor want you to pay for it... no thanks.

I wonder if there will be a new tier of gear greater then dreadguard/hazmat released immediately with the expansion and perhaps the next tier of mods.
This for me as well. They did announce they did not want to make all 50 content absolete once the level cap goes up. I guess the only way to do this is by needing current endgame Ops gear to start the new endgame Ops and probably not making a bigger 'item level' jump than they do currently (2-3 levels for each tier).

They have a system in place where it can work.. but it all depends on implementation. And I really wonder how they will implement it in TOR.

Also, those who say this is equal to other games' content updates while TOR is charging for it: 5 levels of content are not equal to normal content updates. Most MMO's add like 1 raid and possibly 1 area, usually with dailies or some other grind, with content updates. You know.. similar things that TOR has been releasing since their 6 week schedule started. Since Makeb was announced, it was always said to be a bigger chunk of content with their own missions, flashpoints and possible other things.
If it comes out with both 5 levels, and a flashpoint or 2 and 1 new Ops it will be a bigger 'content update' than WoW's Sunwell patch. And that was admittedly one of the biggest content updates that game had that was not part of a expansion.

So really.. look at it realistically..

LEVEL CAP INCREASE=EXPANSION.
It is not a simple content patch if new levels are involved. That's just the way it is in almost every themepark MMO.

  • WoW has 5 new levels, they release them along with a big expansion, they charge $40+subscription for access.
  • SW:TOR has 5 new levels, they release them along with a small expansion, they charge $10+subscription for access (or $20+no subscription)

SO much for subscribers getting updates for free
Well... Maybe learn to read the info.. Price for Subs. 9.99$
And this is NOT an update like we use to get, its an expansion, and tell me a MMO where the expansion is for free.

New planet (which should be much bigger than Black Hole or Section X) and new levels definitely equals an expansion. If you don't think it is an expansion, what exactly is your definition of an expansion? I would guess we're also getting at least one new FP, a new Op, and hopefully a new WZ with it as well.

Well, other MMO's that charge for Expansions are not only adding a couple of quests and 5 levels, you are getting a lot of content added as well and honestly, Its the Content that you pay for. i could give zero banana's if WoW was still capped at level 50. the ammount of content they added per expansion is enough for my money and the extra 'levels' were just a bonus.

Also they are planning on bumping up current 50 gear, so even less items are going in, just things are getting 'buffed'

Well, given that current Story Chapters are 3-5 planets in length and 1-2 flashpoints, I guess that is what most people would be expecting from an expansion for Chapter 4. Rolling all the stories together and releasing 1 planet does seem more like a content patch they are charging for. But it is what it is, either way I am sure it will be fun.

^^^^^^^ THIS

Everyone who has played other MMO's KNOW that this ISNT an expansion. a Paid SWTOR expansion should be another Chapter to every class Story, a few other planets. a new PVP, couple of Raids/Flashpoints and some more space mission. What they have done here is NOTHING like that. And since its a Free to play model now, Yes, I expect all that for around $20-$30.

I think everyone here has forgot this game was stold on the entire Story aspect of the game. It's what BW hyped up. Honestly to me this is just another Cartel Market Unlock that you pay for in a different way.

Sorry bro, prace tag is 20$ with a reduction for subs.

And you are completely right, its not like miniscule updates like rest in SWTOR, its like FREE CONTENT UPDATE IN OTHER MMOs just that ITS NOT FREE in SWTOR, and its NOWHERE NEAR expansions in other MMOs.
